Oh wow, Kashiwagi's voice. I gotta be frank here, I have never been really of fond of Team B. As a matter of fact, I've always put it down as the weakest link of the chain and the fact most of the members were latecomers didn't help either.

Are you talking about Ayaka Kikuchi? To my knowledge she's the only girl in AKB that found herself in a boyfriend-related incident and got her comeuppance accordingly, but that was back in late 2008. AKS is pretty straightforward when it comes to provide an explanation for dismissing someone flat-out without so much as a graduation party, by the way.

Huh, I wouldn't say so.
Frankly, when I checked the profiles in their official site I was actually impressed to see that a good part of them are still in their early 20s, whereas the eldest members are AKB girls who pitched in for support.
Since the original announcement mainly appealed to women who regarded themselves as too long in the tooth for entertainment, I would've expected a gaggle of way older ladies. At least, judging by the positive impressions I'm reading on sites, the group doesn't look like it runs simply on goodness of heart.

Also, I do believe that my stance on this and other idol threads bears repeating: I'm fine with them, however I am - and have always been - opposed to turn them into 24/7 fanclubs just yet, hence my suggestion about dropping the enumeration earlier in this thread.

Well, the French lessons had to stop eventually. They were basically meant to celebrate AKB's appearance at Japan Expo in their own way, but they ended up drawing them out for the longest time for some reason.

But yeah, I have to agree that one of their aces in the hole is the constant flux of show segments with little to no repeating outside of the period they are cycled through.
They have to bring the mouse trap game and make it a staple, though. It allowed for some funny situations.

The other is the decision not to put any of the girls on a pedestal (I would add "too much" in Maeda's case, but oh well...). I don't think I have ever seen anything to this degree in an idol show. The chemistry between them and the MCs benefited a lot from it for sure.
