The way I see it, she doesn't even really make much "true" interactions with others due to her closing off her third eye. I always thought talking to her would be like talking to a brick wall.

Again, like I said, that's obviously not how she's portrayed in-game at all, but from the text file from ZUN, that's how I saw her. ZUN must have been feeling a bit down when making Koishi's profile in comparison to when he was working on the game or something. I mean, look at the picture. She's so happy and adorable, but the profile makes her sound pitiable and deadpan.

But in that sense, due to her being distanced from others emotionally, she doesn't really have "manipulation of other people's subconscious" as much as "total control to act solely under her own subconscious".

From what I understand from the profiles, both of the Komeiji sisters suffered socially from their abilities. However, Satori chose to cope with it and tried to make the best out of the situation by owning pets etc. However, Koishi wanted to simply escape from everything, and ended up in an even worse situation since she had given up on properly communicating with others. It wasn't until SA Extra that Koishi start to realize that she had made the wrong decision, and by wanting to learn more about the person at Moriya Shrine, her heart start to open up again.

It says this in her profile:

No one really knows the full extent of this ability, but maybe if she's eating some delicious food next to you, you wouldn't even notice her or the food she's eating. However, you'd just get a gut feeling that someone is eating, and somewhere in your head, the idea "man, I could really go for some delicious Gensokyan dishes!" could pop up.

Anyone with a normal unconscious (i.e. not around Koishi) will notice, even if they're human, that someone might be near or that someone might be coming. Like a kind of heightened sense or even a kind of primordial "spidey-sense"

Around Koishi, this unconscious/ability/instinct is "shut off," and can render Koishi invisible, even to the tengu. It only comes "back on" when Koishi is away.

Basically, she can manipulate people's subconscious, but only subconsciously. For example, Koishi realized that to get to the shrine on the mountain, she'd need to get past Hina, past Nitori (and possibly the other kappa), and past Momiji and the other tengu.

So her Closed Eye sent "waves" of energy that temporarily turned off their instinct or unconscious act to react if someone was nearby.
