So I play this game, and for like one month repeated for four million years, I'm stuck in this town called Hinamizawa. And I'm not even the main character! I'm K1; the main character's Rika. And I keep having pedophiliac sexual fantasies about the main character! Now Satoshi Houjou's in a coma; there's no instant gratification. I'm getting a little bored. But my friends are like "keep playing! Keep playing! Eventually Hanyuu is coming out of every orifice! It's awesome, just stick with it!" So I do. And I go to the TIPS section, and I read all the TIPS, and I pay attention to all the details, so that I'll know what's going on when I get to the fun FUCKING part of the game.
That's bullshit it took me like four years! I didn't see so much as an Oyashiro-sama for like a hundred millenia.

I found Higurashi surprisingly tame compared to the anime adapation. Almost 3/4 of Onikakushi was comedy/SoL, and the only arc I remember being more violent was Meakashi. Not that it's a bad thing, I guess I'll even start liking characters other than Rika and Satoko after reading the whole thing.

I rewatched the Higurashi anime with my imouto a while back and even she wasn't dumb enough to think it was all about "killer lolis xD". It was pretty funny to listen to her theories about what was going on.

And she's reading Umineko now, which was my main reason for getting her to watch Higurashi in the first place. I'll turn her into a female version of myself someday if it kills me.

I'm hoping they finish the Minagoroshi and Matsuribayashi chapters in the manga.

I like the manga better because the pictures are creepier and there's more detailed information. The anime feels abridged and PG-13 in comparison.

The manga does make some shit up though. For example the meeting between Rika and Bern in Minagoroshi-hen contradicts the VNs. Also Rika shouldn't have clawed her throat out in Meakashi-hen. The manga tries to take the gore so far it ends up contradicting the source material.

1) I thought Rika's meeting with Frederica was cool. Perhaps from the discovery of Frederica being an actual character (and the disappointment of her not being included in the anime)

That was an antidote!? I was under the impression that was the same virus Miyo used to kill off Jiro. That's why it made sense for me when Rika was injected with it, it caused her to kill herself.

And I didn't think there was a cure for the parasite...just something to knock it back a little like with Satoko.

P.S.: Yes I did watch the anime. Subtitled. No mention of Rika using an antidote on Shion (I thought she was trying to kill her to protect Keichi from her.

In the anime, Rika stabs herself both in Meakashi-hen and watanagashi-hen. In the VN they are two different resets, but it seems in the anime it is the same piece through another perspective.

The anime shows a scene from Meakashi-hen at the start of Watanagashi-hen. In reality Shion slowly tortures Rika to death.

And the worlds are not the same. E.g. in Watanagashi-hen Shion saves K1 from the bikers while in Meakashi-hen K1 saves Shion from them.
