I let my five year old niece play Yume Nikki, and she wasn't scared or creeped out. You guys are wimps.

What? Five year old girls are easier to scare than grown men.

>> No.3039431

Much of the scary factor in Yume Nikki is the corruption and reversal of expectations that one only gains after several years of growth in our society.
Take for example the lonely road with the car accident. There are no emergency crew, you're alone on a seemingly endless stretch of road, and there is clearly someone injured in there. But you can't do anything about it.
It's not only impotence, but the fact that what's inside may not need your help after all and leap at you.
Frozen there, you finally decide to run past it.

Yume Nikki is not scary. It's just a catalyst for us to scare ourselves. That's what makes it subtle and interesting, beyond the jump scares that will get anyone regardless of their age. Uboa being a jump scare, along with other surprise events.

Not when the creepiness is based on our twisted interpretations instead of some direct creepy element. That's also why kids may like clowns and adults are creeped out by them. Now, since you already knew all of this, GTFO with your troll thread.

Clowns are actually almost inherently frightening, but most of the time it's offset by the fact that they -act- silly. It's easy to forget that when you're an adult and haven't seen a circus in 10+ years.

But also, I think lots of kids are genuinely creeped out by clowns.

Then, there's lots of people who think clowns are scary because of movies like Batman and It giving clowns an association with evil.

Pic semi-related: It's another example of something that would normally be considered "scary," but isn't due to his usually comedic attitude.

Uboa, FACE, and arguably the sewer pictures.
