most VN's I've read I have enjoyed immensely- I'm not going to degrade them by applying an arbitrary digit to them and saying that this is better than that

rather than that, it'd be much better to create a list of VNs you recommend, and a list of VNs you believe others should avoid.

FSN, Tsukihime, Ever17 and Umineko are all novels I strongly recommend anyone to read.

I never said they did. I just said the general consensus for /jp/ is that everything is mediocre.

There is no perfect game, however there are a lot of good ones out there and the scores should fall more around 6-8 range for most of the games listed. Maybe even a 9 or two if you found it outstanding. 10 should be impossible, and 0 would be a loathing score of worst possible (and impossible to obtain).

Sayonara wo Oshiete. I've only done one route so far, but I really fucking like it, I love the atmosphere and overall style the game has. The story gets all kinds of fucked up when you realize what's going on, I figured it out when Takashima mentioned her family.

Really most of the TWO DAYS literally spent playing this was a 6 but the epic spots notched it up quite a bit. Still I'm now dumber for having put myself through all that nasuspeak.

Tsukihime 9/10 - I still have half of Hisui's route and Kohaku's to go, but the last three routes were awesome.

I generally liked all the vn/eroge I've played, and they have all been worthwhile in various aspects. The only one I never really got into was Kana Little Sister. I like incest doujin and all that, but I didn't really like when you and the Kana started fucking (my guess is because I liked how the interacted as siblings more than how they interacted as lovers). The only Ends I liked was Yumi's and the Snow end. Most of the Kana routes didn't sit well with me.

Additionally Zun, I've played Snatcher God knows how many years ago on my very first Sega. If I recall correctly the story was quite nice (as the 10/10 EVE shows I love investigative stories), although the gun-fights were pretty lame.

Well I honestly loved it since it was one the most _influential_ titles for me to start play japanese games. The Sega Saturn version (and that's the exact same content as the english localized version) is still in the top20 on erogamescape, not to mention that EVE B E was written by the same fella who wrote Yu-No. Not to mention that the game has various animations occasionally and they were such a nice touch overall.
I really liked the system with the multiple protagonists and the way their scenario intertwines in multiple cases, yet they physically avoid each other for the most part of the game, not to mention that about 90% of the cast interracts with both protagonists, and it was amusing to see how differently they behaved.

Kojiroh's the detective's scenario was well written in my opinion, and he was one of the GARest and funniest protag back those days for me. His humor is quite funny, and the game offers a lot of silly options which is why I actually liked the "think-move-look-check" system. He (and Marina too) basically thinks loudly when you select a silly option, so he gets easily embarassed if he's with someone, and you keep fucking with him by purposely choosing the fun commands.

Marina's (redhead on the picture) "route" (well not route, since you play both at the same time) was a bit more serious in my opinion, but her scenario was a lil bit more about friendship in the first part, and the heavy investigation only happens after certain events. She had various jokes too, but while Kojiroh is a certified pervert, Marina cannot behave that irresponsibly due to her career. But her side of the story made EVE's plot complete.
And then the whole ending was one heck of a ride. Everything gets connected together, yet there were still a few things to be revealed there (the main antagonist is a surprise for everyone).
Then just like in classic stories you have to guess who was the murderer, and you can revisit the murders to find some clues.

So yeah I recommend it to everyone if you are fine with the kinda oldish graphics (although I still think it looks significantly better than Umineko, and I do respect Ryukishi), the bulky save system (it's kinda inconvenient), and you don't insist on the comfortable sit back and read through the story, since the game has the classic detective-commands (but as I said, the humor makes up for it in my opinion).

Thank you my friend. I must have played that game at least 3 times over the years and i can only agree with everything you said there. While Adam the double factor was not that great, but still good in it's own way, i am really hoping that someone picks up the not translated eve title.
If you played that game you should play Desire too.

Indeed fellow Anon. It's nice to see I'm not the only one replaying it every one or two year lol.
We agree that Adam was a bit lacklustre, and in my opinion due to its unsatisfying ending it couldn't really "fill up its predecessor's shoes". However the interface was more unique there at least, and the map function was also better. Hell it was nice to see the characters again though.
And yeah I also wish someone would translate the other games of the series (or even the remake version). From what I've heard EVE New Generation is a decent title, and EVE Zero is also above average, however they don't surpass the original one unfortunately, as far as I know.

And yeah if one enjoyed EVE B E, then he should also play Desire too, because it has one of the most bittersweet and twisted endings among the VNs I've played (just grit your teeth with the girlfriend's route though). As you can see on my TL;DR vote-post I rated it as a
