/jp/, I need your help. I can't seem to find a kig thread, so let's begin.

I follow kig threads on /jp/ pretty closely, I'm getting to be more and more entranced by them, but up until now I've always counted on /jp/ to keep me up on kigs, I haven't gone out and found their sites myself. Well honestly, now I want one. I'm already working on getting into shape and getting the costume pieces together. The mask I thought would be the tough part, but I think I found a way. There's a cool little costume shop near my house, I told them about kigurumi. They'd never heard of it before, but now they're fascinated by it. If I help them find whatever information they need to put one together, they say not only will they make it a project for me, but they may also start making them for order. So, in my hour of need, I come to you. I don't know where to start, I ask you; how are kigs made? Are there any good tutorials that I could understand? I know kigs are mostly handmade from FRP, but what are the steps, the processes?

Help me /jp/, you're my only hope.

Admittedly, it would be nice if these were easier to get here. This costume shop says if all goes well and there's a demand for them, they might add made-to-order kigs to their permanent catalog

It's a nice shop too, not one of those seasonal halloween shops that comes and goes. These folks are open year-round. It's the shop owner that needs convincing, but the co-owner (his wife) is totally for it. She thinks kigs are amazing.

Well, they make custom order costumes there, and i've seen they've made masks and mascot heads and such, So I asked if they've ever made a kigurumi. They didn't know what that was, so I explained it was a special mask meant to make the character look like an anime character, and I showed them some pics I had on my psp. Basically, I got their attention. Apparently they have seen them before, since they sometimes get people going to Otakon and Anime Expo.

If I can convince them to get this project rolling, this may just become a new source for kigs in the US. it would take time, sure, but I don't think that sounds like bad idea at all. I've seen their work, they've got the skills for it.

it appears there's so many different ways to make a kigurumi mask. Hard to say which is the right way, if any. Some seem to just slip on like a helmet, some open and clasp shut. Some have an attached wig, others have the hair attached one weft at a time...

This'll be tough to pitch, but I wont give up. I want one, that's my drive.
