Seriously though, no one said we were well spoken (although we like to pretend we know lots tons about literature while critiquing the writing in visual novels). Personally, if I had to pinpoint the thing that irks me about Jessica, I'd have to say that it's because while the other characters feel well-developed, and have rather novel personalities for a VN (pun intended?), Jessica is one of the few that seems to embody that oh-so-familiar "tsundere childhood friend" archetype that's found in most animes/games, without bringing any interesting development, or backstory to the table.

She loved Kanon and clearly stated that, repeatedly. Her romance was the most realistic of it all. It was a natural conclusion of what happens when a lonely girl is stuck on an island with the only male her own age.

Compared to Shanon and George who's love was cute but overly dramatic depictions hers was more down to earth.

Her presence in the story is minimal and often restricted to shows of helpless rage but she did redeem herself in EP4 with her defiance and strong will. I expect her to play a larger role in EP5 since her mother will be the primary topic. All in all she's a good character.

Ange too. I disliked Ange because she detracted from the focus of the story and her 1998 characters were entirely useless. But I do recognize that she was an important element of story telling which helped flesh out the system of magic and show the effects of the whole incident on the outside world. She was competent more so than Battler and helped him man the fuck up. If it wasn't for her do you think Battler would have been awesome enough to stare down dragon kinzo and pierce Beatrice mercilessly with the truth?

It's a little hard to really like the characters in Umineko because the characterization is pretty shitty.
Since Ryukishi07has to repeat the same thing 4 times to get his point across, only a few characters were really well developed in the 4 game, though that doesn't really make them that interesting either.

Otherwise people just like the characters because of the quirks they have, or how moe they are.
Jessica doesn't have much quirks so yeah, it's obvious she won't be liked much.

And it's true, the characterization in this game is pretty horribly done, any point about a character you learn has to be repeated ad nauseam because the readers are obviously all retards who can't get something so fucking obvious.
It's been 4 fucking games, the equivalent of several LOTR but the content could have been easily cut in half or even more with some more competent writing, and the characters so far could be far more interesting and developed.

Do you know why the red is important? It's a plot device used to explain away unknowns. Things that would encumber the game if they went into too much detail about it could be stated as facts by a omniscient narrator.

That doesn't mean every single instance that the red isn't used is falsifiable, it just means that 1)it's not an important detail to dwell upon or 2) it's so fucking obvious that it shouldn't even be worth mentioning.

Lets take this statement "Rokken Island is an island located off the shores of Japan and is under the jurisdiction of the city of Tokyo i.e it's an extension of the city of Tokyo." This wasn't stated in red but would you still doubt the validity? No (unless you're an even bigger idiot than I give you credit for).

Those scenes were self-explanatory and it would be fucking stupid if you expect every single detail to be spelled out for you in red.

I'm not even anti this or anti that. I believe that they're both components to the story and events happening should be taken as such until proven other wise. Going the ridiculous route of having every single fucking detail being stated in red robs the story of the flow, mystery and potential for discussion.

It's one thing to say that your interpretation of a scene is different and go for a more human story when it comes to magic fightan and such but it's another to completely ignore a normal scene, with no magic what so ever, just for shit and giggles.
