So, I downloaded IaMP, trying to get into it. I'm not very good at 2d fighters, but I will see if I can change that.

So far, it's been pretty frustrating. Anyone got any ideas for how to get better at this game?

Study timing, study distance. Concieve a purpose for each of your attacks, and don't throw random shit - use only an attack when you're sure of what it will effectively do, and what you want out of it.

That's the first thing scrubs fail at.

Download Scarlet Weather Rhapsody.

Delete SWR.

Download Melty Blood Act Cadenza.

Practice, watch replays, read the wiki to learn combos. If you can't practice against good human players, use cowcaster's practice mode with a load of data from good replays etc.

Pick a character. Learn her moves. Practice BnBs. Watch tourney replays. Visit bellreisa, sibladeko, and xenozip's youtube channels (they have several decent tutorial videos for beginning-intermediate players). Go to the iamp wiki ( http://iamp.mizuumi.net/index.php/Main_Page ). Play other people a lot.

don't even bother. everyone who plays fighters is a SERIOUS BUSINESS faggot. you won't have any fun, you'll just spend countless hours perfecting tedious combos in practice mode, memorizing hitboxes and clash frames, and all just so some loser who plays 14 hours a day can hand your ass to you. trying to get into online fighters was the lamest thing I ever did. Just play more touhou or find a good VN, seriously.

Damn this. Just managed to barely get Reimu's good ending. Got a continue at Suika's battle and lost two lives at her Pandemonium. Shit's though, I just used the spell cards basically to finish her off.

Out of the base available characters, Youmo is the one I like the most.

However, Patchouli is the only one I can reliably win vs. the comp with, many great ranged combos that I can easily pull off.

Il study some youtube videos, and read the wiki I guess.

If you want to reliably find people to play against, you'll have to try the iamp and/or swr irc channels. I really wouldn't bother too much with story mode or regular cpu opponents.

I have no intention of playing this against other really good people, I just want to be able to play a 2d-fighter.

My friend is crazy over 2d fighters, he's importing Blazblue as we speak (Eurofags all of us), he convinced me to try to play one.
