I was just watching one of those typical bullshit Japanese travel shows that showcase the regional specialties that Japan has to offer. One of the hosts made a comment like, "no wonder Japan is envied by countries around the world." This isn't the first time I've heard this. All the time: Japan is the peace capital of the world, Japan has four seasons, Japanese work harder than others, Japanese are politer, Japanese food tastes better. I get it. There are countries in greater Asia that have a ton of catching up to do as far as standard of living is concerned. But the words "Kaigai" refer to North America, or something generally more Western 90% of the time. I lived in Japan for 2 years and got that shit all of the time.

I am in Sweden now. You can bet that the people here don't give a fuck about Japan, and don't make comments that show their ignorance about the rest of the world.

Is anyone else tired of a sheer lack of Japanese understanding about their place in the world? Japan inc. is dead, and Japan can't un-fuck their government enough to learn how to say "no," and their society is headed on a one-track route to unrest.

Nationalism can be a good thing. Just how can a half black Japanese man writing VNs about robbing gas stations and "fuckin gurlz wit big ass n tities" properly contribute to their culture?
