How many of you are among the elite that exclusively browse the /jp/ board here on 4chan? I personally think that anyone willing to give the other boards so much as a single visit should be locked out of our realm until the end of time! If you don't agree with me take it /a/, /b/, /v/, or whatever shithole you came from, because I don't want to here about it. If you're an oldfag and you're proud of your board post in this thread! Don't be afraid to let the lesser posters know how you truly feel about them!

(I'd also like to give a shoutout to my ghost bros. Take it easy guys!)

>> No.2955078

I agree. Let's lock out those friends who also browse other boards.

People expecting /jp/ to be more mature. I don't know. I'm glad many of us are using sage properly now, but I don't think we should completely abandon our roots. Personally, I still feel each million GET has a bit of significance (as long as the board is slow moving). Regardless, the most important thing is to take it easy, and stop posting in obvious troll threads--I'm looking at you, Suigin.

>> No.2955187,22 [INTERNAL]

>>2955187,20
How?

The only "solution" would be if he (and by he I mean MrVacBob, obviously, moot doesn't do anything other than mess around with XD stuff like custom spoilers) made it so any mod/janitor could add blocklist entries so new spam variations could be quickly blocked.

It simply can't be stopped, short of CAPTCHAs.

How about blocking all proxies and instead of the regular IPs the ISP of the user?

>> No.2955187,24 [INTERNAL]

>>2955187,18
4chan can very certainly die. If moot has no more money left for hosting (and he's already like $25,000 in debt because of it, IIRC) the site will disappear, it's that simple. The userbase won't disappear, but it would become scattered over many different 4chan-like boards, I imagine.

Jeez, of course, it's THAT simple! It's just a matter of adding a if($is_proxy) check!

There's no easy way to check for proxies, bro. More like, you'd end up blocking legit users whose ISPs use well-behaved proxies and you'd miss all the bad "invisible" proxies.

Not to mention this is completely irrelevant because it can't do shit for botnets.

>He's basically keeping the site up out of the goodness of his own heart.

Wut? Yes there is, only elites can't easily be recognized. All other, much more common, proxies will pass on environmental variables (HTTP_PROXY_CONNECTION, HTTP_VIA, HTTP_X_FORWARDED_FOR, etc.) that make clear the connection is going through a proxy.

>> No.2955187,34 [INTERNAL]

>>2955187,33
Congrats, you just banned all the legit proxies and completely missed all the shitty CGI proxies all the idiots use for ban evading!

And again, proxies are a moot point because lol botnets. I really doubt AnonTalk spam is using any sort of proxies.

>> No.2955187,35 [INTERNAL]

>>2955187,32
That's not how it works. A single company can have multiple IP ranges. moot does ban IP ranges occasionally, though. He tries to avoid it, but he does do it sometimes. You might consider e-mailing him an appeal.

>Congrats, you just banned all the legit proxies

Which ones are those?

>And again, proxies are a moot point because lol botnets. I really doubt AnonTalk spam is using any sort of proxies.
You're wrong. I tried several (elite) proxies to post on 4chan a few days ago and 3 of the 4 that actually connected were banned for "Anontalk proxy bot spam" or something like that.

You're a complete moron and I hope you don't run any website. Are you from /g/?

>What legit proxies?
Many ISPs, companies, schools, colleges do transparent HTTP proxying. It's simply out of control for its users. And obviously, those proxies are easily detectable because they play by the rules and do send those headers you mention.

Your "method" is fucking useless because it only blocks HTTP proxies that play by the rules. Anonymous HTTP proxies (what you call "elite," I'm guessing), SOCKS proxies and even shitty CGI/PHP ones are unaffected.

When it comes to technology, I hate "partially clueless" people more than "completely clueless" ones. Because the "partially clueless" enjoy spouting nonsense and pushing retarded "solutions" like those, at least the "completely clueless" ones don't say anything because they know nothing.

Of course, you can pull a 2ch/Futaba and do hardcore blocking and overzealous proxy detection (web server running on port 80? DENIED). You can always think of more draconian block policies, but they will do nothing but annoy your users and barely bother the malicious users, who will just switch to using something else.

>> No.2955187,43 [INTERNAL]
