>Here's your official statement regarding our Nitro+ translations.

>We are currently trying out a bit of a partnership with JAST USA in order to do a few different things:

>1) Increase the speed at which the finished products are released. This is probably the item of most interest.
>2) Ensure that Nitro+ fans are working on the projects, in order to provide the highest localization quality possible.
>3) Simply get more Nitro+ titles translated in general and help support the companies involved. The fact that we can do this with Nitro+'s blessing is even better.

>As for details of the partnership... Basically, we'll just let them have our current work and continue to work with them to finish anything we're not done with. We're also interested in working with them on games that haven't seen any sort of translation attempt as of yet.

>Obviously, since we'll be working with JAST to have our translations released officially, we've taken the script files and patches offline. This was done in order to both support future official releases and to provide incentive for others to actually buy the damn games.

>If you have any questions about this, or are someone who has translated or is interested in translating Nitro+ games, please don't hesitate to contact me or LoSs about the matter.

Damn you OP for being fast. Here's what I was going to post.

The Nitro+ translation projects of Sumaga, Chaos;Head, Demonbane, Saya no Uta are now under joint development with JAST USA. Future titles are under consideration.

I shall start off by addressing your immediate concerns.
1. The lolis will not be touched, since all of them aren't underage or human. Fuck yeah.
2. The people that purhcased Chaos;Head, Sumaga, Demonbane, and/or Saya will probably not be able to do some sort of trade-in. Sorry.
3. It'll be way cheaper than Mangagamer's $50 online distribution shit. You'll be getting a boxed copy and maybe some extras, original release style.

Now I'll tell what I want you to know.
1. We may be working with more Nitro+ (and Chiral) titles, so you guys might as well pull them off the board.
2. Before you criticize us for being corporate whores, let me tell you something. Go up to your parents' mailbox and see if you can scratch up money for those bills.
3. I can't stop you from pirating, uploading, linking, or ripping. Remember that neither Nitroplus, the TLWiki, and JAST USA are swimming in Electronic Arts' gold vaults.
4. TLWiki will continue being a safe haven for other, non-JAST related translations. Sweet Pool and the like can and will stay.
5. To paraphrase, JAST thinks that Mangagamer is being really, really stupid about the Higurashi fan translation.

I'll be taking questions and discussion for four hours.

Here's a Noah update to go with the news about the JAST partnership stuff.

The current EXE is in a working state. Effects do not crash like the EXE based on Chaos;Head. Everything I've tested in the extras menu has worked too (but you can't unlock achievements for obvious reasons). The problem with the current EXE is I made some errors while changing the resolution. It will need to be redone before I feel comfortable releasing it. There's also some font related coloring problems but that can be worked around for now.

>In addition to the quality of their titles, part of what attracted us to the games of Nitro+ is the great passion many fans already feel for their games. We’re open to having any talented translators help us with the game translations, regardless of their place in the fan community. Bottom line, anyone who wants to help and can do a smooth, professional translation will be considered.

--
When asked about whether this would have an effect on the release date of their upcoming Nitro+ products, he said:

> Possibly, we’re still trying to make a guess about this. We need to talk with the programmers in Japan and find out what their schedule is like.

We also asked him about whether the completed fan translations — Chaos;Head and Saya no Uta — would be brought over as well in addition to the two currently announced titles, and he had this to say:

>We certainly would like to bring these games out to fans, and will try to get them added to the release schedule. Nitro+ is especially interested in the prospect of getting Saya no Uta out to fans (actually there will be an American comic of the story made). We can’t say any more at this point although we are open to taking any positive step that will get these games out into the hands of fans.

No, many Internet distribution fansub groups did that. You still have trackers around that uphold those "morals."

I'm still around.

It's my fault for not clarifying that. Achievements work in the sense that you can see them, but you cannot unlock them. Previously most things in the extras menu did not work at all (for example, pictures would be missing or misplaced). The game has no way of unlocking them so even if you meet the requirements, you don't get them. Maybe after I've finished messing with the EXE I could code up some functions which would store the unlocks as variables and check those instead of storing them on the 360 like it tries to do. I agree that it's not that important in a visual novel but it would be nice touch.

Back as late as 2005, fansubs were generally argued as helping the industry, and many groups would stop at licensing. Then the attitude changed to "who gives a shit, we no longer care about the industry, we just want our fast subs"

I believe that this cooperation is even better than if the fant-ranslation would have continued alone.
With fans making sure that the final scripts good and with JAST making sure that the image editing follows industry standards the quality should be bound to be better, right?
And with this there is going to be a physical product which I think is awesome.
ChaosHead
Saya no Uta

are VNs that I know that I would want to have as a physical product and I always wanted the Limited edition version of Sumaga with the Nendoroid figurines, but I never got my hands on it but hopefully JAST might release something similar.
