Here's a Noah update to go with the news about the JAST partnership stuff.

The current EXE is in a working state. Effects do not crash like the EXE based on Chaos;Head. Everything I've tested in the extras menu has worked too (but you can't unlock achievements for obvious reasons). The problem with the current EXE is I made some errors while changing the resolution. It will need to be redone before I feel comfortable releasing it. There's also some font related coloring problems but that can be worked around for now.

Well I wasn't terribly interested in Kazoku Keikaku, but screw it. Here's $40 out of my PS3 fund, Pete and TLWiki. Best of luck with those Nitro+ games, when the time comes they'll also be siphoning money from the likelihood of me ever playing Atelier Rorona and Disgaea 3.

I can only hope the Futagotachi are negotiating some similar sort of arrangement with MangaGamer. Their blog post was a bit strange.

While I really liked Phantom of Inferno, Hirameki's localization of the DVD-Video version was an absolute nightmare. The subs were sketchy and timed by a deaf person. The interface as well was also disgusting (passwords anyone?) and I still can't find a PC media player that will touch the thing (VLC does ok, but good luck trying to resume your game). Does Jast have any inkling of a plan to do something with it?

It's my fault for not clarifying that. Achievements work in the sense that you can see them, but you cannot unlock them. Previously most things in the extras menu did not work at all (for example, pictures would be missing or misplaced). The game has no way of unlocking them so even if you meet the requirements, you don't get them. Maybe after I've finished messing with the EXE I could code up some functions which would store the unlocks as variables and check those instead of storing them on the 360 like it tries to do. I agree that it's not that important in a visual novel but it would be nice touch.

Back as late as 2005, fansubs were generally argued as helping the industry, and many groups would stop at licensing. Then the attitude changed to "who gives a shit, we no longer care about the industry, we just want our fast subs"

You can walk into any store with a decent dvd selection and buy Salo, I don't think Saya would be a problem.

Someone get the indie filmmakers interested in it. It'll be pretentious as fuck but only someone like Lion's Gate would want to touch it otherwise.

The sex is too ingrained into the plot of Saya for it to be taken out without a loss to the story. How would you get around Saya getting raped? That's an essential part of the story when Fuminori kills him, so you have to show why he kills him.

But either way, the plot is just too edgy and bizarre for even the most indie team to touch. Shit, the thing will never get an anime for that reason, so you can forget about a live-action, that is just pure fantasy guys.

So if I understand everything correctly, sometimes in the far future when Noah will be completely done, and JAST is going to publish a PC version, despite that the original japanese version can only played on XBOX 360?
I hope the japanese audience isn't going to bitch about it in the end, because in order to play it they'd have to buy a console, yet somewhere out in the west the very same game is ported to PC but on a language they don't understand. (Or are there any plans to port the japanese version too?)

Noah has an iffy future right now; I think the Nitro+ developers still haven't been contacted about it at all.

It'll be interesting to see how they react to what we've done.

This cooperation is awesome and I happily support it.
I believe that it is very clear now that JAST is far superior to Mangagamer.
I believe that this cooperation is even better than if the fant-ranslation would have continued alone.
With fans making sure that the final scripts good and with JAST making sure that the image editing follows industry standards the quality should be bound to be better, right?
And with this there is going to be a physical product which I think is awesome.

are VNs that I know that I would want to have as a physical product and I always wanted the Limited edition version of Sumaga with the Nendoroid figurines, but I never got my hands on it but hopefully JAST might release something similar.

With this I hope that Mangagamer will realize that their ridiculous prices for non physical and low quality products won't cut it.

I knew you were bought off. By the way Noah project is officially dead. Don't let confuse you, as Jast wouldn't allow a patch without releasing C;H localization first and then again, fags won't be working on Noah because they will get paid for other works.

What about the Nitro+Chiral titles? The ongoing (?) fantranslation projects are still unaffected. Sweet Pool as you guys said can and will stay, and the Togainu No Chi fantranslation ( http://www.midoshiro.com/blwiki/doku.php/ ) is still in progress.
Does that mean JAST isn't going to localize the N+Chiral titles at all? (They already localized yaoi game in the past as far as I know)

If they don't put priority on other titles I really don't see why it should take that long.
And if they did prioritize other titles than we will get those first in the meantime so it shouldn't be all that bad.

I didn't think that 5pb would give their OK for an official port either, I just thaught that if they found a PC release to be ok it wouldn't take JAST until 2015 in order to release it as long as they don't consider other titles more important.

So it was basically an "if" scenario.
I sure do hope that 5pb will find a PC port ok, even though I don't see it as likely.

A lot of members have personally put a lot of time and effort into porting Noah. Since we're not JAST/Nitro+ employees as of yet, development will continue.

What I don't understand is why are people whining so much about MG lack of boxed version
Boxes gather dust, get in the way, and their content breaks, gets lost and/or gets scratches

DL version has none of those shortcomings, and you can always redownload if your drive explodes or something

However I was curious how far the JAST/Nitroplus cooperation is going to absorb the fantranslations, and Nitro+Chiral also belongs to Nitroplus, yet curiously I haven't seen any sign of approaching the fanTLs of those yet.

Because of legal issues, I _think_ the PC version (not our voiced PS2 port) will be the Demonbane release. I'm not sure on that one.
