The only games I played from them are Code:Realize and Variable Barricade. The other game they wrote is Cafe Enchanté. Variable Barricade is also a solid title. I haven't played Cafe Enchanté yet but the people I know said it's also a good title and it's better than Code:Realize so I have hopes for this one. If you can read JP better play the OG instead because the translations are shit. Same with Piofiore. They took so many liberties with the translation to the point it changed its original intent.

Okay, finally done with Olympia Soiree.
Long ass game, 35-40 hours. That said, it was a mostly great game, extremely focused on developing its plot and setting over romance and other things (the level of romantic development varies from route to route depending on how tied it's to the plot of said route).
The game is basically split in two, the first four routes are overall world building and developing different aspects of the setting while the later two are more focused on the actual "plot" of the game.
If there's something I can give to the writing of this game, it's that it bothers to be nuanced. It's so easy to write stories like this in a really black and white fashion, but in this game the writing actually makes you understand that the values of the characters in it are actually different, by necessity, so some of the more fucked up stuff that happens in it has to be that way, at least to a degree. As in, they don't agree with death penalty for X sin but they agree that there needs to be some kind of punishment because of colors, same with the caste system, which most people don't agree with but its existence is justified by almost everyone in the game.
That kind of writing also extends to the actual cast, since the villains of one route get expanded on and explored from a different angle in others (most of them at least), so everyone is at least grey, even if really fucking dark at times.
Route wise, I actually enjoyed all routes barring Tokisada's because I think the author couldn't manage to write a more political/rebellion focused thing and it falls kinda flat. His individual scenes with the MC and the ones about god are still great though.
Favourite LI was Yosuga surprisingly, his route had actually a lot of meat to it and was romantic and interesting from the beginning to the end. Didn't think I'd even like him.
Biggest disappointment was probably Akaza's. The route is still good, but it's good IN SPITE of him, he's basically a prop in it, he's not particularly interesting or fun and his interactions with the MC are so dull the writer amps her tsundere act a lot to make something entertaining about it.
So route wise my enjoyment goes Himuka>Yosuga>Akaza>Rikuu>Kuroba>Tokisada

What did you think of Norn9?

I watched Norn9: Norn+Nonet, which is an anime adaptation of an otome game. Here are my thoughts:

Cheap animation. Visually, the anime appears low budget and sloppy. Sometimes the background setting looks good, but the character animations themselves are consistently poor. Art style and colour palette are also fairly bland. Character designs are okay. There are occasionally some scenes where the visuals are nice, but the anime is very inconsistent, and on average weak, in this regard.

Fantastic soundtrack. Truly exceptional. I actually started listening to the OST long before I watched the anime itself. I even put it on my portable music device. It has some amazing tracks. The OST is by Kevin Penkin, who more recently made the wonderful Made in Abyss soundtrack. Voice acting is okay - the three lead female characters all do a good job.

Interesting sort-of-steampunk sci-fi setting with sky ships and things of that nature. Very little is explained but it's still lightyears better than your typical school environment.

The main character, for lack of a better phrase, is a complete autist. She is very awkward, shy, naive, and has zero social skills. Some people might find this tiresome but I thought it was kind of endearing. I'm so used to seeing males as the socially unskilled character that it's refreshing to have a female lead character fill that role. Actually there was a general trend within the entire cast of the female characters being introverted or strange in some way, whereas the male characters were comparatively more normal. Otome media typically focus on one main female character, but in Norn9 there were multiple female characters each of whom had their own character arc; I quite liked this aspect of the show, although I think a longer runtime was needed to comfortably accommodate each character arc.

Both the plot as a whole and the scene-by-scene drama felt ham-fisted to me. This is a common quality among VN adaptations. It's not necessarily a bad thing; it can be enjoyable as long as you expect it. That said, from early in the series it felt like a ton of plot strings and individual character arcs were introduced at once, and this made the viewing experience somewhat perplexing, particularly during the earlier episodes. Similarly, although character development is implemented frequently, it's not enough to compensate for such a large cast of characters, most of whom were introduced early in the series. I enjoyed watching it, but it would have been much better if it wasn't so unpolished. It was good, however there was still a lot of unrealized potential. Norn9 does romance really well, has an amazing soundtrack and a unique setting. However, it also has serious direction problems.

I really want to rate this higher but I can't ignore the fact that I spent a considerable amount of the viewing time feeling confused about what was happening. I'm not sure if the intended audience for the anime was someone already acquainted with the VN. Apparently the VN is way longer and more elaborate than the content of this adaptation. I have not read the VN and my critique does not apply to the VN. I would like to read it though, and then rewatch this anime with a better understanding of the story. I wish the anime itself was much longer because there is clearly so much more to the story than was included in this single cour. In fact, trying to adapt the VN into a mere 12 episodes is probably a major cause of this anime's problems. Someone truly interested in this franchise is probably better off reading the VN before watching the anime.

I would only recommend watching this to someone who enjoys shoujo-ish romance, or to someone interested in seeing an otome story implemented in a sci-fi setting. However, even if this anime doesn't appeal to you, the soundtrack itself is worth a listen. Kevin Penkin is very talented.

I'd also really like to read the manga associated with this and I'd appreciate it if anyone knows where I could find the raws.

Just a friendly advice. Never watch the anime adaptation of a vn before trying a game. All genres yaoi,otome,eroge blah blah. They are rarely good. Steins gate is an exception, fate stay series, but otome hmm I can't find good level ones. Hakuoki was decent and kamigami no asobi was funny (and more for the fanservice lol). Hiiro no Kakera was good actually bc it only covered one route and focused on it. (The main guy)

Now about Norn9. I highly recommend you to play the games for the romance alone, artstyle and music. The plot isn't that great (for my standards) but I enjoyed the game for the romance shoujo style. It was really sweet. Mcs were cute, the LIs were husbandos minus 1-2. I liked the voice actors, godtier (minus Kaji Yuki but he is much preferable than Morikubo).
Last Era fandisk sequel was really good and heart warming shame Aksys didn't translate it and Eops can't play it. Main game is nothing without it.

So my opinion about norn9 anime. Shit. Gave it a 4 only for the mikoto natsuhiko moments. Game : I gave it an 8 (I'm strict with rating, I wanted to give it a bit more, but I got hashihime 10 and usually I give 8.5 + to Takuyo games so no).

My experience with anime vns. I watched Nil Admirari anime. It was shit I couldn't even finish it. When Sony stopped producing psvita I rushed to buy one. And one day I bought the Nil game (it was on sale or smth) so I was like let me give it another chance. It was really good. One of my fav vns actually.
