Her character design was bland. Her character was bland, her story was boring, she barely contributed to both the mystery or magic and in the end all the time invested into making her a complex character became wasted when she essential became cannon fodder.

Haven't played Higurashi VNs but I only started liking the series AFTER the started answering the mind boggling questions. The only reason I stuck with it till then was because I enjoyed the characters. Mr.Delicious and Droopy chick are fucking awesome along with the rest of the cast.

Higurashi's plot summarized

Hanyuu pulls a jesus and has her daughter kill her, becoming a god.

Rika is born as Oyashiro-sama's reincarnation. The only person who can see and interact with Hanyuu

Rika is killed by Takano as she's trying to prove Dr. Takano's research and get back on those that disgraced him.

Hanyuu can't accept Rika's death and uses her power to keep restoring Rika before she was killed.

Despite her best efforts, Rika is always killed so she continues the cycle of death for over a 100 years.

Eventually Rika and her friends are able to stop Takano and break the cycle of death.
