Since many people have been asking for one, and because the amount of recommendation threads will probably increase (blame summer and Umineko), I made a VN recommendation list.

This is NOT an elitistic 'you must play this otherwise you suck' list, nor is it a 'these titles are all great' list. This is a list with popular titles that will inevitably be recommended to new players anyways, and it was made to quicken this process.

This list is mostly based on the list at http://archive.easymodo.net/cgi-board.pl/jp/thread/2864507

Each title comes with genre listings and a short plot summary. This way, people will know what they're up for if they want to play the VN, and it helps them decide which one they will probably like best.
The screenshots are not pretty promotional images, nor awesome CGs. They're random in-game screenshots showing the players what the VN usually looks like.

Criticism/suggestions? Post them here, or edit them into the image yourself. Improvements are always welcome.

With the tiny amount of VNs available in English that actually are worthwhile, I can't believe how many recommendation threads /jp/ has seen recently. People who are looking for something to play can just search vndb for stuff with English releases and go down the list (which isn't all that long) in order of popularity until they find something that interests them. The only game on that ranking which is a _lot_ lower that it deserves to be is Kira Kira, and that is only because it was released like two hours ago or some shit
