Western fanbase can't work together to save their life. Japanese circles have clearly defined roles for each member, and very rarely will they overstep their bounds. Sort of some doujin producing bureaucracy. The western fanbase loves to stroke their ego so drama happens. They fight over whose names goes on first or whatever. Remember the Spice and Wolf baka-tsuki LN translations? 2 guys were working on it. They had a disagreement about how a kanji should be translated since it was kinda archaic and hard to bring into modern context. Then they started shit about who is the better translator and then they both left.

I don't know about that. Every now and then, I do a Danbooru rip for specific tags and I usually end up deleting well over 90% of the images. I'm pretty sure the shit rule applies to everything.

And how. I used to do scanlating shit with some guys at college. Drama for us broke out during translation. Our group had like 2 fobby guys and they would argue constantly with the American Born Chinese that took Japanese here over kanji that have a bit of difference in meaning between Chinese and Japanese. The fob guys would argue to use the Chinese translation becuase it made more sense and the abc that took Japanese would say fuck you, WE'RE TRANSLATING FROM JAPANESE NOT CHINESE. It was stupid. It ended up being me that did the translations. I only took it in high school so the entire time I had to use a fucking dictionary. Not cool. We got that settled down when we put the fob guys to buying the doujins since they had "connections" in Hong Kong. Then more drama happened when we made our website. Fob guys wanted to have the site in Chinese and the rest of us wanted it to be in English only. We bought like 10 doujins but only ended up fully translating 3. Then we just kinda dissolved after that. Fuck I hate that fob attitude where they think they are better than everyone.
