To be honest by the time HF came around I was pretty detached from Saber. I don't know why. It's not like I didn't like her as a character, and I did get attached during Fate, but after Unlimited Blade Works, she clearly stepped back to a supporting character role. She gradually became less important until by the time I started HF she had become a minor character and not a major one.

I like Sakura just fine EXCEPT when she's involved in the actual fucking plot and not just that girl who cooks for Shirou.

Because every decision she makes is ass brained.

I don't care that she's a victim and has tons of baggage. I don't have a problem with damsels who need to be saved.

But when they need to be saved from themselves more than anyone else they start losing a lot of points with me.

Well, this is Nasu we're talking about so this may not be a valid proof but... it was stated that servants 'die' when thrown into the mud. Some of them, like Caster, become mindless puppets. Others, like Saber, retain some parody of their former selves, but lose free will.
Just how much will they lose is unclear, but I suppose that Saber resisted Sakura's influence with words, because it wasn't possible to do so with her body.
