Why does witchcraft get such a bad rep? It's basically western Shinto.

Christians think witchcraft is "satanic," and atheist internet tough guys refuse to regard witchcraft with the same level of legitimacy as other, similar religions.

Pic related. It's a Shinto priestess and a witch.

>> No.2906409

Because Witchcraft is shit, Shinto is shit, Christianity is shit.

Christianity dominated Western culture and the attitudes it instilled as side-effects of it's attempts to maintain dominance have deep roots by now. Basically? Christianity didn't want competitors and dealt with them in the way that all monopolies that are above the law do.

Centuries down the line, people still don't like that thing thanks to the propaganda. Atheists just see it as pointless nonsense - like every other supernaturalistic worldview.

>So? You're questioning my credibility? That's okay, but isn't that kind of an ad hominem?

No, attacking someone's credibility when they're making a claim is acceptable (within limits). In this case, you're saying they don't have an argument when there have been as many arguments for God existing as there are that He hasn't.

That said, neopaganism/witchcraft/wicca is hipster bullshit. Though I think we've already established that by now.

Fictional witches are cool. They talk to animals, summon fantastic creatures, shoot fireballs, and fly.

People who call themselves witches in real life can't do any of these things. They light candles and talk to gods, and maybe their wish comes true and maybe it doesn't, and that's their "magic." ALL religions do that, so what's the point of calling it magic? You're just begging for a handout from your phony god like any Christian would.

>>2907028 you capitalize the G in G-d whether you believe in him or not
That's because G-d is actually the god's name. Or title, rather. At any rate it's a proper noun. If G-d is called "god," it's grammatically incorrect.

I don't think there is any grammatical rule saying you HAVE to capitalize pronouns referring to G-d and Jesus. It's just an optional display of reverence.

If you refer to G-d as "Him," you're implying belief.

Modern witchcraft is hippie feelgood bullshit for teenage girls.

Ancient witchcraft was people masturbating in their basements while calling someone they hate a sonofabitch and then feeling responsible when their horse died or some shit.

If witchcraft had anything to do with illusions or some other form of visual spectacle it'd be awesome.

But it doesn't so it isn't.

Hey, an occult thread. Anyone remember my wacky theory about how Anonymous collectively has the spiritual power of the average god? I did some experiments. We do.

It turns out that tapping Anonymous as an occult power source is much like evoking(or invoking, as the case may be here) any entity. Easier, in fact, since you can get Anonymous' attention quite easily. I won't run you through the boring details, but initial tests involving using magic on computers are very promising.

I would try it on a basic love spell, but forgive me if I'm worried that Anonymous would screw up my relationships.

Anyway, 4chan seems to like Chaos magic(k) better than neopaganism and wicca and such. Which is hilariously appropriate, but still means that neopaganism won't be well received here. Of course, there's still the bunch of people who don't even believe in the spiritual, but that's not a problem we're here to fix. Even if we did there would still be poor reception from the chaos magicians and number of Hermeticists or whatever they're called.

More on-topic, Shinto actually had it's own magick users. I believe they grew to enough power to be considered gods in Shinto(not like that is very difficult, but still) and have a shrine somewhere in modern Japan. I'm actually trying to get more information on them and their methods and beliefs and such, but it seems they were all quite secretive.

They're called the Onmyouji, from what I can learn. The best I found is this;
http://forums.vsociety.net/index.php?topic=1072.0
and they didn't figure out much. If any of you are better at research, do post your findings.

Hitler's fascination with the occult led to the creation of Gensokyo. In some kind of reverse-time process a history was created following his thoughts (the Jews being the poor humans and his mighty Aryans being the youkai) and all of its denizens were bound to his conceptions.

Hitler and a team of Nazi scientists entered the strange world and were accepted by the youkai for their selection of cool hats and matching clothing. Hitler learned some danmaku grazing techniques that did not apply so well outside of the mystical land. His final thoughts in his bunker as the Reds closed in were to will this utopia for the master race a queen, and his newly-wed Eva was ripped through the borders and ascended to become the most powerful of all the Aryan incarnates.
