Hello /jp/, first time poster here. I just got ahold of a bunch of the Touhou games (after begging a friend of mine in Japan on a business trip to get em for me) and I got em English patched and all I can say is:
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!
I decided to start out with Embodiment of the Scarlet Devil, cause it was the first of the Team Shanghai Alice variants. I'm fine right up until Patchouli, I've only beaten her twice. Sakuya can just DROP DEAD EASY, I haven't managed to get past her yet.. x.x

Would any of you mind sharing your thoughts, experiences, or any strategies that might help a new guy out? If it matters, I'm a big Marisa type A fan.

Sorry bro, playing on normal. Easy mode's for babies and the like!
Why do devs even make an easy mode, it defeats the purpose of a challenging game..

Oh, sorry dude, was just trying to fit in. /jp/ newfaggotry at it's finest, eh?

>>2899977
Focused movement is a godsend, I can't imagine beating some of the later-game bullet combos without it.

>>2899988
I don't think I could lag down the speed, and besides, that would defeat the purpose of enjoyng a challenging game. No fun in that!

How often did you try / How long did you play?

It looks like you just failed for the third time and make a thread about it.

WITH CONTINUES?

1. BOMB MORE
2. Study the patterns
3. BOMB MORE
4. Move less.

Well if you know all that already you either have to keep practicing and memorize all the spellcards or go to youtube and watch some eosd replays

Rule 3: Don't use smilies - Smilies aren't accepted in /jp/, please refrain from using them. We are all heartless bastards who don't want to see what kind of faces you make IRL while posting (This also applies to reaction images, if you want to post them so badly go to /a/ or /v/) Exceptions: ;_; (Life-like texture ;_;), 2ch smilies and ransmirk.jpg

I've been playing on/off all day. If I had to give it a number... I have about 4-6 hours of experience with EotSD. I can manage to reach Meiling before hitting my first continue, but everything goes downhill for me on stage 4... I don't use enough bombs and I haven't quite memorized all the stuff yet either.. ;-;

>>2900035
(+1 internet for constructive criticism, seriously.)
I only recently realized I could use youtube as a resource.. It prolly is the reason I got past Patchouli at all. I haven't been playing since about 1am though, that's when I hit my fatigue point and my ability to game drastically decreases. Just sorta drifting the web right now, somehow landed here and noticed all the touhou stuff, and whambamthankyoumaam here we are.

There A: is not much continuity
and B: If you really cared, you would start with the PC(whatever number) games then. EosD is the 6th game.

Touche good sir..

Okay, truth time: My interest in Touhou sparked from the Ran Ran Ru remix of "U.N. Owen was Her" that was on knowyourmeme.com. (Rocketboom Institute for Internet Studies, fuck yeah!) It only seemed right the first one I played was the first one I discovered.

AND, now that I've started EotSD, I won't quit till I'm done!

I turned my back on the old ways of anon about a year ago. Figured it was time I stopped using the anonymity of the interwebz as a shield to allow me to be cruel without repercussions. It just got boring after a while. It also lets me go to places no anon would DARE set foot in without any shame. Hey, you'z guy'z loss, more laughs for me!

Hey, if it's any redemption, I merely HEARD of Touhou from knowyourmeme, I never paid any attention to it, too busy laughing at japanese Ronald McDonald and his antics.
No, I learned of Touhou during my vacation to my half-bro's house. The wife of a friend of his sent my h-bro a link to Cirno's Perfect Math Class, and we watched it together and even though we didn't get any of it, we thought it was great. The vidya itself became an epic family joke, we called it the themesong for my youngest sister due to the "BAKA! BAKA!" chorus. We'd play the video over and over and torment her by pointing and singing along with the chorus. Ah, good times.. From there, we searched for other Cirno vids and that eventually led to the discovery of Marisa Stole the Precious Thing, Overdrive, and then the music group IOSYS. My h-bro ended up getting all the IOSYS albums, and before I had to return to my home he copied em all for me. After rocking the house on Audiosurf to the tunes of IOSYS, I began looking into their sauce. THAT was how Touhou came to my primary attention as a game.

tl;dr
It's all Cirno's fault!

>watch replays, learn techniques

I recently started to wonder about if there might be any amazing replays showing most "tricks" that the average person do not think of.

I've watched a few random ones but usually they seem to be about as clever as myself and mostly keep to the lower end of the screen and shoot. It works most of the time, but I'd still like to learn some tricks.
