Fallout had same problems. Too much cloned areas and lack of good quests to do.
I enjoyed both to some extend, but I wish that developers of the freeroam shooters actually bothered to do a well developed world with a lot of stuff to do, before dumping you in the middle of nowhere.
Better then FarCry 2 though.

STALKER with mods was an amazing game, though. And hopefully that LURK mod that /v/ & /k/ are cooking up will live up to the hype.

One thing that STALKER had was a believable landscape. Whoever designed the landscapes at Bethesda clearly has never heard of soil erosion.

There was 18 quests to do, with the main quest and survival guide counting as two quests. Not that Fallout was ever really known for having a huge number of quests to do.

Vanila F3 had 30 or something quests. This is pathetic amount for a game that tries to pretend RPG and has F1 and F2 as an ancestors.
And half of them could be solved in a matter of five minutes, like the megaton bomb.
Moira's quest line was the only well developed one in the game.

It was. They weren't that long, but there was a whole lot of quests and minor events to do. Fuck, even minor town like Modoc in F2 had something like 15 quests to do.
