I don't really know if he is suppoused to look more like shirou there than in all the other pictures, but it is pretty much his first true smile ever.

But a happy conclusion and people finding answers is as common in a story as it gets.

It's basic stuff, not special. You just also have to portray it in a way so it truly seems meaningful.

Yep, Archer's pretty most the most tragic character in all of Type-Moon. At least Ciel ends up with Shiki and Arc and Sakura were happy for a time. Poor Archer just got used by everyone, manipulated and taunted, but he was okay by it. He was even HAPPY to be executed for something he didn't do.

Then he becomes the spirit of humanity's bitch to be dropped into Hell again and again. Nor does he get a happy ending.

And since most of them are similar, small exceptions do not affect the whole much.
