i joined this thread 3 months ago and started my japanese journey here
i found some incredible resources, guides and tools which put me on the right path, and i made good progress if i may so myself
but the thread itself has become a great time sink and addiction for me which is really hampering my learning

ive tried to leave so many times and done everything i can think of but it never works. i get into pointless and retarded angry fights, and even when im not posting im still reading the posts here the whole day and its fucking up everything
i could progress very fast if i could focus a bit more on the things i should be working on

this is a move out of desperation. im getting a trip so you can filter me/ignore me or hold me more accountable for my posts, that way the thread will be less shit for you, ill get into fewer fights as ill be forced to think more carefully before making a post, and i will form really negative experiences with coming here and hopefully stop altogether

i would assume the pisscord would be useful depending on what you need. for one you could have spoken chatrooms for practice. i'd never fucking use it though personally but thats my own beef.

if it were me i'd shitpost in /int/ for written japanese, or i'd sign up for a comprehensive tutoring/spokeaking practice with a 3rd party, but currently i'd have to look into reviews before suggesting any. italki sends me a lot of email spam so i probably sign up with them at one point.

i dont know much about testing metrics but for example a j-cat score seems to be a much more reliable indicator of ability, but someone who comes here and brags about knowing japanese probably wouldnt take a test like that (would most likely reveal their deficiencies through their post) and people itt who say "you dont know japanese" like to ignore these concrete metrics when it suits them

The only reason you don't notice how dirty it is is because there's not enough room on the floor for piles of dirt and dust to form. They sleep in futons which they never wash (too big for a washing machine), they simply "air them out" every now and then. Yes, that's right, they sleep in their own fermented sweat and maybe piss until they buy a new futon. The summers in Japan are very hot and humid, yet the Japanese don't shower after getting home. While I personally use visual novels, you can do this with any media type. For example you could play Dragon Quest on the SNES and follow along with a script on your PC so you can use yomichan to aid you. You could read a manga and ocr the text to check words you don't know with Yomichan. You could watch an anime and use a browser extension to use yomichan on the subtitles. You can study using whatever type of media you want and it's such an amazing way to learn Japanese
