Does anyone have any links to stories of former long-time hikikomori who managed to reintegrate in society somehow? Is this even possible? Any personal experiences? ("I was in my room alone for all of 3 months during summer, then my mommy found me a job in the family company" doesn't count, only serious stories of overcoming actual obstacles, please)

I graduated in Spring 2001.

Started attending college in the fall. September 11, World goes crazy. My mother goes on active duty and we are really short on cash in the house.

I end up having to drop out to work but keep paying the college fees so I could be covered under my parents health insurance.

I spent several years working for the newspapers and being a delivery boy because of the dead elephant of being a college dropout on my back and just trying to make the rent lent alone go back to school.

Eventually I went for training to become a healthcare worker last year during my off time. but ended up not using it because my application got approved for a nice job in the state government just before they closed the door because they did more than just look over my educational background.

So now I work part-time with benefits, retirement and a lot of perks. But I'll be on mandatory probation for a year or so just like all new hires.

I think I might be falling into the habit, though I'm not quite there yet, since I still have college to attend in the fall.

How do I keep myself from becoming one? It sounds nice in principle, but I don't want to be yelled at nonstop to get a job for hours on end every day.

Well, I've been forced. In two and a half months time, I will have to attend a shitty college, because it was either a job or an actual graduation paper from college or university, or get kicked out. Now, my family is piss poor so I can't harass my uncle(I don't even have one) to take me in or give me money, so this was the only thing I had left besides killing myself before becomming a genuine bum. I haven't reintegrated yet, but fuck I'm already panicing, raging and fuck I don't want to ;_;
