Would the Maikaze Touhou anime have been better if it was more like "Friends" but with Touhoues? They would hang out at Reimu's shrine all day and just crack jokes and drink tea, much like how the Friends Gang hang out at the Central Park coffee house. I could see Marisa being like Chandler and making sarcastic quips at everyone. Maybe Reimu would ask for some donations and Marisa would quip in with "Could you BE anymore poor?".

Production value was decent for the first episode, but when you think about it, nothing really happened in the first episode aside from introduction of characters and bloomer shots. I have a complaint about Marisa's behaviour cause she didn't really act like the Marisa I'm used to, but this may as well be resolved in the later episodes.
It needs more action and less moe shit, but all in all the first episode was quite entertaining.

I'm not going to lie here, that would be stupid. I enjoy slice of life shows (I watched Lucky Star and K-ON!). I jumped over the episodes that seems the same for me since it is a waste of time to go over the same everytime (aka beach episodes).

Touhou is not material for this type of show. Sure, they drink tea ... in the endings, that doesn't mean they have to make the whole fucking series based on them.

Touhou is about fights and danmaku, if they throw slice of life content it will be completely acceptable since thats also part of Touhou.

That would kill the whole purpose of the series. The roots of Touhou are the danmaku games, having no danmaku in the anime would be pointless and incredible stupid. Any person that enjoys Touhou from a general point of view (plays the games, read the doujinshis, enjoy the music) would know that.

I believe that one movie for each Touhou would be great.
For example, for EoSD, that would be something like that : first, a quick introduction of Gensokyo, 5-10min of scenes featuring the "problem" in Gensokyo (in that case, red mist, etc...). Then Reimu asking Marisa if she knows anything (the beginning of the movie would be something similar to the Maikaze episode). But then, Reimu and Marisa would fly towards the Scarlet Mansion killing some fairies, beating up stage one and two (with a funny fight against Cirno). Then, Reimu would beat Meirin (during a beautiful and colored fight, with some Meirin kicks). Marisa would get lost into the library and fight Patchy (they would become friends after the fight), Then Sakuya would be beaten by Reimu during a fucking awesome fight of 10 minutes with timestops and rock'n roll, and then both Marisa and Reimu would finally reach Remilia. Another awesome fight. And then, when you think it's over, there's a hidden door behind Remilia's throne that leads to Flandre's playground. Epic fight ensues. Then, when everyone's beaten, everything is alright and everyone drinks at Reimu's shrine.

Rince and repeat for PCB, IN, MoF and SA. Of course, you would need to make the fights incredibly awesome so that it doesn't become boring.

And this as well. Hell, I love the games, but danmaku does not translate to 3 dimensions. Your best bet would be to portray the battles like in Scarlet Weather Rhapsody or Immaterial and Missing Power. There is a reason that there are no danmaku games where you are actually flying in three dimensional space. It would be confusing as hell and not all that visually appealing compared to the simplified view offered by the top down format.
