As a political science major with a broad knowledge of history, I must agree with this. Every country messes up and does something like Nanjing at some point.

os, it's NanJING not NanKING. Nan = "south," jing = "capital," hence Nanjing is literally "the southern capital." You don't call the northern capital "Beiking," do you? No. So don't call Nanjing "Nanking."
