I view it more as accidentally subtley trolling. I by no means intend to as I am always interested in feedback in order to improve things, but I can't help but get joy out of seeing so many people freak out due to my sadistic nature. I posted the video in order to see what /jp/ thought of the panel, and to show them that it was indeed pretty much everything I had stated it would be when I was first going on about it. It wasn't a meme fest, it was by no means a destroyer of Touhou (Only 5 people hadn't heard of it, and they were all 18+), and I didn't mention any imageboards.

Both. We covered the games and the doujin elements of the series. It needs some fine tuning and improvement for both aspects, but it was at least better balanced than it was at Sakura-con.

Also, of all the Touhou panel threads on /jp/ I've lurked, and all the angry, spiteful, comments I've seen (not to mention fail-sage's), not one person has managed to explain in a clear, logical, reasonable way why a Touhou panel is a bad idea.

/jp/'s hate is what the OP wants to see. I'd honestly expect no less from a Sankaku regular.

And on the flip side, there really is no good reason to do a fan panel about Touhou. Bastille's panel consisted of reading from the Touhou wiki and showing Youtube repays of the games itself. Who could even think that's this a good idea? It isn't informative either, since apparently everyone at these panels already knows Touhou and have read that wiki.

You know what's a better idea? Doing a panel on the STG genre itself, or one about doujin games in general. But I'd doubt a Sankaku Kid could pull something like that off.

Leave the single game panels to the game industry folk themselves. No one wants to see some silly fanboy going on about Touhou, Naruto/Bleach, or whatever his single favorite anime/game is for a whole hour.

I could probably do something for doujin games, but not the STG genre. As for what I presented, nothing came directly from the wiki this time, though I did rely on it for information, in comparison to the past one which was a copy and paste from the wiki at times because I was an unimaginative twat back then. I also wouldn't call them Youtube replays since the Sakura-con panel showcased a video made by Kefit just for it, and then the SA replay, while it is on Youtube, was the direct file itself.

I'm not going to be claiming this was a perfect attempt at what I wanted to present, but in the end I decided both sections needed equal coverage. I want to improve the doujinshi section for Sakura-con, but haven't quite figured out how yet. The way I went about it initially didn't feel right though.

I never intended it to be a panel meant for hardcore fans. A bunch of the people in attendance that had heard about Touhou certainly weren't as knowledgeable about the series as the rest of us are, and they learned from the panel. I tried to include jokes that the fans would get so they wouldn't be completely bored, but the main bread and butter portion for the fans is the portion after the presentation ends where everyone just hangs out, chats, and plays games with each other. When that happened, we all just socialized and play PoFV and SWR against each other and we all had a lot of fun.

Also, the replay was done by Kefit who I consider to be a friend, a great Touhou player, and a valuable contributor to the panel. I find it much more interesting for normal people to say "Here is a replay done by someone from North America who is also white" since it helps some people think that Lunatic isn't some god realm meant for crazy asians. I could certainly show some random replay by some really good person, but I prefer to know where everything comes from and be able to talk about it.

I was tempted to do a panel about Sanaku Complex after how well the gathering I had at AE went over when I did a Sankaku meetup. To be fair though, only 3 other people showed up, all of which were also at or involved with the Touhou panel, all we did was go out to a bar and drink, and we didn't even talk about Sankaku at all.
