Why does EVERYONE post that image of her vanishing? That's not even in the sprite sheet.

Well ideally you'd want to try to get into an immersion session at Gallaudet University in Washington D.C. as it is a college for the deaf.

Barring that any school that offers it should employ deaf instructors so that should help if you're really serious about it. I personally just finished two years of study of the language.

>> No.2812765

Oh, and another thing I should probably mention is that I have absolutely NO experience with sign language or deaf people.

Should I just figure any reputable school is probably going to tell me to fuck off?

>> No.2812809

just curious, OP, why'd you want to learn ASL anyway?

because of KS? not saying it's bad.

OMG! I didn't even notice I was playing a demo! ;__;
Any news about when the full version will be released?! All I find on the web is speculations..

Partially.

Well, it's a career I wouldn't hate, and I'd probably end up meeting some interesting people and stuff.

The fact is, what I REALLY want to major in is something that has such a small job market, it isn't even worth pursuing. So ASL is really a second choice.

So, what's a good way to gain ASL experience? Volunteer work?

Rochester Institute of Technology has an ASL program because NTID is on campus, but I go to that school so don't come here and bug me.

>> No.2813644

Just study it at your local community college or something. There's no reason to go to a special school for the first year of any language.

Work in a disabilities office at a local university/college.

Surely it's not that simple. Wouldn't they expect me to have experience for that?

>> No.2813767

You can always try. Worst they do is say no thanks. That is about as entry level as it is going to get. You can likely fit in with whatever courses you take in ASL type stuff. They will also likely test you and what not.

>> No.2814498

I'm actually going to be taking an intro to ASL course at my university next year.

Not KS related, but because I think it would be interesting, I need some second-language credits, and it would be easier to learn to speak english with my hands than learn an entirely new language (I took 4 years of german in highschool, and I doubt I could barely scrape by in a conversation with a native-speaker)

If you can do sign language, I doubt that they wouldn't take you. I volunteered for Guide Dogs For the Blind as an entree level trainer last year during college.

It's a lot of fun to do things like that, too. You meet some fucking awesome people.
