Considering its reputation, it hasn't been that bad. It's only really messed up a few times - most of the problems I've had have been Flash 9 freezing up and taking the whole system down with it. I've also had one or two random freezes while using firefox (two weeks that have passed since I began).

Apart from that, I've been able to do my usual work, such as web browsing, simple image editing, composing music with Modplug tracker, running megadrive games in Gens, etc.

With the exception of DoD and HoI2, the only "games" I play on my PC are eroge and VNs. So widescreen would only lessen my experience of the things that I usually play. I'm not a fan of those huge black bars.

I watch some anime, but not nearly as much as I used to. Not enough to justify buying a new monitor anyway.

The only TV shows I've downloaded to watch on my PC over the past year or so are Farscape and Quantum Leap, which are both too old for widescreen. And I tend to burn and watch movies on my widescreen TV.
