do you "play" visual novels, or do you "read" them

Generally the gameplay consists of hitting spacebar/mouse button and occasionally choosing one of a few options.

So, do you 'play' or 'read' them?
Also, what's the best translated one that you've played. AGTH/Atlas ends up with laughable results:
"It's been 3 months since that fateful meeting"
translates to
"It was 3 months ago that I met that Electric Horseman of Destiny"

Is there a way to make it automatically paste it into firefox? I know the grammar and with Rikaichan, I could probably read most of it myself. I just don't know all the fuckload of kanji they put in there
