Now, my artistic talent stops after stick figures, but how the hell are 'how to draw' step-by-step guides supposed to help? They just show you how to copy lines. You can't take that knowledge and do any other pose or character or anything with it. You may as well be like 90% of DeviantART and trace if that's how you 'learn'.
