I've gotten good at running between raindrops. I can thank Touhou for that, but I don't want to.

of course, there's always "play by order"...

...if you can handle EoSD's horrible curve.

2 Lives for practice!
No Hitbox!
No Boss Indicators!
Game gets harder when you do better!

I AM DISAPPOINT when ZUN stopped adding this.

>> No.2770560

>>2770545

I have never played any STG before Touhou. It took me about a week before I could 1CC EoSD Normal.

2 lives for practice forces you to actually get better at the stage, hitbox indicators are a crutch (and frankly, for most card, if you're squinting at the hitbox *anyway* you are doing something wrong), and I've never found much use for the boss indicator; if I'm looking at that, I can't read most of the screen, so I just look at the boss anyway.

Game developers should think how to make the game more creative and engaging. Oh, ZUN.

Only if you're only using homing-shot or wide-shot characters.

>> No.2770579

>>2770571

Or, you know, when I'm using Marisa's shot, which I prefer. And it's not like homing shot characters don't still need to be under to boss to kill it before it times out anyway.

If I'm looking at the indicator, I can't read most of the bullets on the screen. If I'm looking at the actual boss, or just under the boss, then I can do so easily.

But EoSD isn't the first Touhou game.

>> No.2770584

>>2770579

You don't need to read all the bullets, just the ones that are near you. The indicator is for people who stay near the lower edge of the screen and only look at their character and 3 cm around her.

Don't forget horrible shit graphics.

Honestly, there is no damn reason to touch EoSD until you have already played every other Windows touhou.

>> No.2770593

>>2770587

I played EoSD first and it's still to date my favorite. What now ?

The thing about EoSD is that it does it's thing with the bare minimum amount of fluff, but it does it's thing well. Bosses are actually harder as you go along, instead of just being easy as hell all throughout untill stage 6, and it's not crippled by a retarded novelty scoring system.

>shit graphics
Just a matter of acquired taste, like all seasoned touhoufags. If you're talking about the in-game sprites though, I partially agree; they don't look that polished, but then again that was 7 years ago.

>> No.2770600

Thanks. I'll grab a couple of these and give them a go

EoSD is the best Touhou game hands down, all the other ones fucking suck.

Yeah because I play STGs for the graphics.

EoSD actually looked fucking awesome when I first played it because I worked my way up from the PC-98 games.

They are sure useful against Sanae and Koishi.

(I actually only wanted to make this picture, but then I entered touhou zen and cleared every of Koishi's spellcards (except I died once on the first one trying to make another picture)

>>2770584 You don't need to read all the bullets, just the ones that are near you.

If they're near you, and it's not one of the handful of slow precision-dodging cards/ sections out there, like Meiling's first card, then by the time they're near you they should have already been dodged. It's the bullets just being fired that you need to be watching, so you know where to move that when they are near you, you aren't trapped. If you're sitting at the bottom of the screen and squinting at your hitbox, you're playing like Space Invaders, and that's not how you do well.

>> No.2770694

>>2770653
Also, insta-velocity lasers (EoSD stage 4), which is why I like using Marisa despite her risque moving speed. The point is there are moments you need to dodge fast to reach that safe zone, and other times to rely on your hitbox to weave through mazes of bullets.

Hey guys, I have finally 1 cc'd EosD, PCB, IN, MoF and SA.

What extra should I tackle first?

Should I try some hard modes before trying the extras?
