I've never loved and hated a game so much before.

Love it because it's fun.
Hate it because of Rance.

Is there any way to win the game without him raping anybody (let alone everybody)? Banging the Asai girl in front of her father almost crossed the line. But this shit, not just the kids raping Kou, but hypocrite Rance killing the kids for raping her after he himself has raped 19403 girls (so far), has all but killed my desire to play.

I guess I can just close my eyes and hold the control key whenever these scenes pop up, but still.

If you negotiate surrender, Rance won't rape the people he normally would via conquering.

You will still have to conquer some territories in order to be able to do that, though.

That said, Rance is a terribly designed character. Some moments he is downright evil, then he does a 180 and tries to be a sweet older brother to Kou. Then he goes back to raping innocent people. He's Chaotic Lawful Good Eviil, with a dash of Neutral.

It takes a few times restarting or reloading before you actually figure how to play the game properly, what rewards you should get, what order to follow etc. Plus, the game is non-linear, so you can play in a very different way and still finish (just not get a good score or do it the very hard way)
