Except, the specifically soul devouring oni usually have to violently open up the body in order to extract the soul. Perhaps magic wielding oni like Yuugi do it differently, but it's never been specified whether the Touhou oni shown so far are soul devouring or carnivorous. Or whether they are actually predatory at all, for that matter. Perhaps they are Okinawan and thus benevolent.

Also, all I know about soul eating oni I learned from 80's anime, so do not take it for encyclopaedic truth.
