no it didn't
original /jp/ was a more active discussion of touhou with all the creativity and OC that comes with that. other than that, it was culturally pretty similar, apart from that back then every board was more homogenous. the faggotry about "crossboarding" came later. /jp/ invented "tfw" for example, and I think in one of the old /jp/ fan animations there's pepes and shit
anyway, /jp/ isn't terrible, it's just (outside vtuber threads) slow. nothing wrong with being a slow board. there's slower.
