Atheism isn't the rejection of religion, it is the rejection of religion without proof. While it seems like a battle of semantics, it is important to note that "atheists believe, if there is proof."

I'm talking about the plain dictionary word. Agnostic means lack of knowledge, gnostic means knowledge. Agnostic atheists (which most atheists are) claim they can't know, gnostics claim they can, and do know.

Although it is possible to believe in spirits without believing in a god, it's silly but no more silly than believing in a god in the first place.
