So, which Touhou games have you played today, Anon?

Now I've got around to patching my PoFV (yeah I know, I'm pretty late) I've been spending most the week completing each scenario on Normal Mode again to read the endings. Admittedly, it's pretty much exactly as I expected, still I enjoy Yuka's teasing in her scenario and Reimu's usual investigative skills.

But damn, I love just having a short blast on PoFV for a short while each day. Gives the sense of a real spellcard duel rather then the usual hero vs. boss affair.

I'm still trying to 1cc EoSD. Been practicing stage 4 and 5 for a couple of days now, but I still can't really complete any of those stages without dying or using a bomb.

EoSD is also my weakness. I can about get to Remilia on normal, but by then Sakuya has fucked me up so bad my chances of 1CCing it is pretty much gone. Thing is, I find Remilia easier then Sakuya, so I just need to practice Sakuya's spell cards more, but I refuse to watch replays to learn how to do cards properly, I enjoy learning for myself.

Probably because it's outside of the normal and when you get down to it PoFV isn't set patterns in the same way that the other games are. With PoFV you need to learn how to deal with each type of danmaku thrown at you and how best to dodge rather then memorising exact spell cards.

I especially love how the computer often throws down a boss when Lily White/Black appears. It's truly a 'Fuck you!' moment where you are forced to deal with bullets shooting bullets.

It's summer Lily, leave me alone!

Stage 4 isn't really that hard for me, but goddamn, stage 5 is just a mess. When I finally learned how to avoid all the fairies Sakuya flies by with her bullshit. First spellcard isn't that hard to get by, but once she activates the second one I'm done for (mind you, it isn't even boss encounter. I'm stuck on Strange Art "Misdirection") I can't find any pattern to avoid the second wave and I refuse to use any help from youtube vids or bombs.

Yeah, I must admit I love it when you're in a tense situation where you've dodged and survived long enough that practically every other moment you or the computer are dealing with the others dragon level attacks and it comes down to a battle of attrition to see who fucked up first.

Usually happens around Komachi or Sikieiki. I remember reading once that it can be easier if you aren't being aggressive, but that seems dull. I go out of my way to shoot everything down and throw as much crap at the computer as possible.

The only thing I dislike about PoFV is how much of a cheating whore the AI can be. I once set a watch mode for a Tewi and Reisen match on lunatic and it went on for nearly 30 min. None of them didn't get hit until the last minute.

It does seem at times that the computer waits until a certain time to fuck up, watching them in the replay shows how crazy they can dodge the most troublesome combinations of attacks. It's also noticeable how they suddenly become easier when you lose a life to one.

That's very true. I first noticed that when I faced Shikieiki in story mode, lost a life and realized that suddenly she became a lot easier to beat once I used up a continue.

Honestly? The best way to play PoFV is with a friend through Adonis. I do it constantly with one (we also chat through Skype while playing), it's fucking awesome. Especially when we get to counter-counter-counter the spells, it's so satisfying. Also, fuck Reimu on Lunatic, her lvl2 spell is enough to kill me.
