Do Japanese children actually add catchphrases like "Nipaaaahh" to all of their statements? Do their parents not beat them?

Which anime started this trope? Was it Urusei Yatsura (lum ending sentences in "っちゃ")?

I remember reading somewhere that Higurashi's characters pet phrases are actually cicada's noises. The obvious one is Rika's "mii", but also Rena's "kana? kana?".

"desuwa" is a ultra polite way to talk for women, in japanese. You might have listen some women in anime saying "wa" at the end of their sentence.

Went to elementary in Japan. No one did that, and they would probably get bullied if they did.

>> No.27486563

I know this is an anime trope, but does it actually sound that weird to Japanese people? If characters in relatively serious western cartoons ended all their lines with "pekopeko", it wouldn't only be ridiculous, it would seem like random out of place gibberish.

Does this sound more natural in Japanese for some reason, even if it's exclusive to anime-speak? I can't imagine it sounds as fucking weird and nonsensical as the example above, otherwise it wouldn't have caught on. Is there something in the language that makes this stuff "work" somehow?

>> No.27487341

>>27486563
Meme shit like gozaru are real, so it's probably not a big deal if someone wants to make up a new quirky way of speaking.

Certainly not that they end their sentences with desu/masu by default and going from desu to desuwa or something when you already go dayo/dano/dana depending on emphasis it's not that big a jump to say something else, actual ending or not.

Western(English) has stuff like Canadians stereotypically ending sentences with"eh", that guy from South Park who goes "m'kay," Dale's wife(Nancy?) from King of the Hill's "sug", and there are various real life annoying things like "man", "dude", and "know what I mean?" Japanese things stick out even more because translators tend to translate them like in Kenshin instead of like in Disgaea.

I remember in Saikoroshi a doctor asks her a question and Rika just says “mii~” and the doctor basically responds with, “yes or no you fucking idiot”. Pretty funny desu.

It's a representation in cartoons, and people who aren't nerds are giving it the cold shoulder.
Sometimes it's embarrassing for me when I see a female student influenced by anime talking in a weird way.
I'm looking forward to the development of the new Higurashi anime.
