Greetings /jp/,

I have completed my translation of Wadanohara.

Wadanohara and the Great Blue Sea (大海原と大海原) is an RPG made by Deep-Sea Prisoner (海底囚人), using the RPGMaker 2000 engine. It was originally released in 2013, while the Wadanohara and the Great Blue Sea -Reboot- was released in 2020. It is an update to the original game and features some narrative, gameplay and QoL changes.

I have not completed a full playthrough of the reboot with the translation applied. Many scenes were done entirely by looking at just the script, devoid of context. Because of this I suspect there are a number of lines that do not match the context of the scene in which they take place. If you find any bugs or awkward lines, I will be watching this thread until the hololive threads kick it off the board. There is also a contact method in the readme.

a very fast way to check if there's any untranslated text in the patched game is with rpgrewriter, the check will inform you about any non-ascii characters in great detail - which map file, which line etc. - it's extremely anal and will report non-ascii SPACEBAR too. Like this: "__　___" (the space is unacceptable)

if you've used rpgmakertrans, the

My time with rpgrewriter was unproductive, if short. The thing with the untranslated tag only works if you build off the same patch file throughout the entire translation, see pic related. At the very least, there are 2145 translated lines in the skills. I suspect there is an additional small divide somewhere that the old skill list and the reboot skill list do not match up besides the 2000 lines at the end that I definitely have translated.

I am aware of this, it is simply the entire Data folder. Once I figure out where the default RPGMaker skills end and the real skills begin, I plan to curate the excess files.

I don't use it for the translation itself, but it's extremely helpful to hunt down missing files, characters not supported by Central European encoding sets like 1250 and so on. For example in the pic: the eighth notes would be displayed as mojibake if you tried to launch the game with 1250 encoding. The files it didn't find are RTP assets missing in the backdrop, battle etc. folders. Worst case those aren't missing RTP assets, but corrupted assets - something like that happened to me when I tried to run Seraphic Blue.

Attention!

This is a large update to the translation, adding numerous translated lines that were from a previous patch file which had been left out from the original release. The filesize has also been shrunken per Anonymous's request.

What has been fixed:
Missing translated lines.
Missing translated skills.
Unnecessary files removed.

What has not been fixed:
Japanese text present in the combat dialogue.
Internal debate over whether I should include the RTP files in the game itself.
The out of context lines that are likely present, my main concern.
