So I was driving home tonight feeling pretty sad. I'm sure most of you have felt that your life is meaningless; you're going nowhere and you'll be completely forgotten. This is a normal occurrence, but I don't think I ever really found out why.

It started when I imagined my boss in a car crash. Now, I like my boss, he's a cool guy. I just kept thinking why I felt so bad about imagining it, and somehow I think I found out when I realized how I really see the world: as a truly gruesome place. Normally I go about, 20 hours a day to myself, doing whatever the hell I like and feel great about it. I have all the touhou, anime, VNs, games, etc. to keep me company until I die. But when I realize how shitty the world really is, it just makes me want to kill myself.

tl;dr Post some good cheer, cause I'm sure not of it right now.

You have us. I know it's not much, but it's better than nothing.

Besides, if you kill yourself, what'll you do then? Nothing, that's what you'll do. Because you'll be dead. No matter how bad life gets, it's still better than the alternative, because once you're dead, there's no going back. And think of all the family and friends you'd be leaving behind. Even if you think you don't have any friends, you still have us, and you still have your games, anime, and VNs.

Gosh I am sorry to hear that. I enjoy all the same stuff you do, but I also have a pretty positive outlook on life as well as a deep love for the universe itself and the scientific method that allows us to learn more about it.
When I was in my late teens/early twenties have had my moments where I felt life was meaningless, going nowhere and I'd die alone and forgotten, but then I grew up. You would probably feel better if you broadened your horizons a bit either by learning new things or by traveling for a while.

It's all about focus. You start paying attention to all the bad stuff, of course the world will seem like something not really worth it.
But if you give more importance for the few good moments, it can be interesting. It also helps to have a long term goal, something to build up towards to instead of being a zombie toiling day in and out, pursuing some ideal of happiness that's not your own.

Find what makes you happy, and go for it. Don't overthink it.

You know what makes me depressed? Happy endings in VNs. They bring me happiness, for a very short period of time. Soon afterward, the happiness fades, but with the realization that only fictional love makes me feel happy like this, which just makes it that much worse. It's pretty ironic, ahaha.
