So we all know that in the games, danmaku is simply those blobs that you don't touch, and spellcards simply mark apart different patterns.

Outside of the games, though, how do you imagine the whole spellcard declaration and casting plays out?

I'm pretty sure I'm just stating some of the obvious points of how most people see it anyways, but here goes.

Depends on the spell card and character. With Patchy, I just imagine good old incantation and execution. Really, I always imagined that Patchy would be able to perform the "real", lethal version of all her spell cards if the rules were not being followed, where instead of danmaku, you've got the real stuff flying around. I suppose danmaku is more or less the "spirit" of the spell itself instead of the actual lethal spell when it comes to Patchou.

But in the case of others like Yuugi, I just sort of imagine danmaku to be taking on the "spirit" of the physical action or object, instead of the instead of the literal action itself. Like "Shackles Sign 「Shackles a Criminal Can't Take Off」" obviously aren't literal shackles, and is just an embodiment of the idea. Likewise, 「Knock Out In Three Steps」 isn't a physical attack. Who knows how declaration of those sorts look like, I always imagined them to be performed more like a ritual that has danmaku accompanying certain action in the sequence.

You character has their own spellcard declared since the beginning of the whole thing. Each time you bomb is actually just an individual pulse in a danmaku sequence. Your spellcard "times out" when you run out of bombs.
