inb4 fascinatingly cool story, bro. The backstory is that people who play Counter-Strike, Left 4 Dead, and TF2 generally can't pronounce Eirin's name, which leads to hilarity.

I'm an unapologetic pubstar, so I usually run into all sorts of characters. When some midwesterner fucks up and pronounces it "Elvis", say on Left 4 Dead for example, the first thing I do is say "LADIES AND GENTLEMEN, THE KING HAS LEFT THE BUILDING" and then dash out of the saferoom.

Or someone will be trying to communicate with me and stumble over "Yagokoro" while my Teammates and I are pissing ourselves laughing. "uh...uh....yago...yako...yagoko....FUCK, WHATEVER YOUR NAME IS YOU FUCKING DUMB JAP"
I take no pains to pronounce it for them. It's more amusing listening to them rage over a few extra syllables.

Or even better yet, when some particularly retarded person thinks I'm Chinese. Then I run around shouting "CHING CHONG, NIP NIP NONG"

Really, the only reason I do it is to cause people grief.
It's also cute whenever I run into some Touhou fans and they start screaming "HELP ME, E-RIN" over the mic. I know, I know, secondaryfags, etc.

Yes, modern Japanese no longer uses wi, but her name uses it. There's no fucking reason it should be pronounced Tei other than japs can't pronounce wi properly. This.

You don't get to make up your own pronunciation based on ancient history, unless the language in question is Latin. If no native speakers pronounce it like that, then it's not "correct." Languages evolve and it's the people speaking it that dictate how it evolves.

It's as simple as that.

There's already lots of Reisens and Tewis running around. In fact there are steamgroups with all the Eientei Members, the SDM members, and such. But very few play as Eirin.

I also play as a Medic a lot in GANG GARRISON 2, so the Moon Nazi is an apt descriptor. She's like a female version of the Medic, after all.

I don't play Casual Fortress 2 all that much, though.
