Hey /jp/

I'm not a regular here, and I'm not familiar with Touho, but I found this on top pictures in Pixiv, and from tag it seems to be from Touho. I love the picture but I don't know what's going on in there

Can someone explain?

oh, and the image is too large so I'm cutting it in 3 part. This is the sauce

Looks like Mokou parting with her father. Kaguya rejects his marriage proposal and he dies from shame or something

Keine Died
Keine is Mokou's only friend, and Mokou is immortal unlike Keine.

Basically, Mokou (the girl with the hair ribbons) is immortal due to an accident a long time in the past (she drank a potion of immortality). This has a tendency to be bad for relationships.

I've only seen some of the pages for that posted around /jp/, wasn't to my interests so never really looked it up, but the jist of it seems to be that Mokou and Kaguya are little cat girls and LOL, come to love each other or some crap.

Never really got into the whole Mokou and Kaguya shipping thing, partially because each doujin that does it tends towards horribly written yuri (is there any other kind) with both of them completely out of character.

I suppose at a stretch I can see how it would work, but we're talking about a lot of time passing.

as per >>2678210 she could have taken it at some point, but I think most people go with the idea she's just long lived, either through the fact she's a Lunarian or because she's such a brilliant pharmacist that she can more or less negate ageing entirely.

Eirin was never punished the way Kaguya was and none of the characters call her out on it in the way some did with Mokou, so I'd be inclined to think she's just long lived and isn't immortal in the same sense Kaguya is.

There's a short Mokou x Keine series on danbooru that I enjoy. It's Touhou in a school setting, and I liked how Mokou and Kaguya are portrayed in that. Not entirely in-character, but I liked it.

Aren't Lunarians only long-lived due to the purity of the moon? Someone said something along those lines before, but I never got into CiLR, so I'm not sure if it was in there or what.

That's what they say, but I like to believe that just government propaganda and their long lives are due to advanced technology.

Probably true, though again Eirin is a genius chemist, it wouldn't surprise me if she had ways to artificially reproduce/maintain that purity. It wouldn't surprise me if you could cleanse the impurities, otherwise I can't imagine Lunarian's daring to come down to Earth for fear of becoming tainted.

Either way, Eirin is old and still doing fine.

>> No.2678411

>>2678397

Actually, Eirin is FROM Earth and founded Lunarian society in ancient times with Lord Tsukuyomi.

She has to be naturally long lived, as the Hourai Elixir didn't even exist until Kaguya came around.

I love this artist so much

He/she draws both yaoi and yuri, and they're all damn good

>> No.2678451

Does that have any basis within ZUN's writings or is it based purely on the legends he's basing the characters on?

In character profiles from the game she's listed as Lunarian, but then frankly the difference between Lunarian and Human seems to mostly be location and their purity.

Cage in Lunatic Runagate.

"Today, the Earth has become a place where almost nothing can live for more than a hundred years.

However, there was a sage who realized that the impurity was stealing life from all living things. It is said that watching the full moon hanging in the sky over the ocean, this sage became determined to free themself from the impure Earth.

As if moving between homes from the sea to the earth, from the earth to the sky, this sage left the Earth and took up residence on the moon. This sage is the founder of the lunar capital, the lord of the night and of the lunar capital, Tsukuyomi.

Lord Tsukuyomi took only those relatives he had the utmost trust in and moved to the moon. The moon was completely without impurity. As a result, those who had moved to the moon forsook any lifespan. That they had no lifespan meant they were neither alive nor dead. In that sense, the moon may be a Pure Land without impurity, that is to say, the same as the world after death.

Of course, since the lunar citizens and the moon rabbits aren't immortal, they can die in, for example, accidents or battles. Still, even the citizens of the lunar capital bear just the faintest trace of impurity. Even we may be fated to live out our lives and die some day.

Our master has lived even longer than Lord Tsukuyomi. When he moved to the moon and built the capital, the one he relied on the most was our master - Eirin Yagokoro. "
