There will come the day you will have your very own robot-wife that will be complete loyal, fulfill all your desires, whatever they might be, without complaining and... you will chose the tsundere-program because the easy-way-out just does not cut it. you want to try harder. you want to be challenged. The robot-wife will be what Wii-Fit is today.

>> No.2610053

If a robot is to react in a fully, loving way how best to simulate this emotion?

The obvious signs cannot be successfully faked. The A.I must be genuinely programmed to experience what, in it's small consciousness, amounts to love.

So, will my robot waifu truly love me? Is a machine, endowed with the purest of man's beings, not his equal?

Perhaps even his better.

By the time robots are intelligent enough to love, they would have enslaved all humans.

Imagine it:

Every fucking thread here would be about AI scripting and AI mode packages for our robot waifus. We would then post pictures of our waifus in a sad attempt to one-up each other.

In addition, some troll would post a link to a megaupload file with malicious AI script, that would make the robo waifu do horrible things. Then the OP would freak out, post and then we would all laugh.

Love is a feeling, by the way. Machines cannot even potentially feel.

Japan´s fetishistic obsession with robots is a sick bizarrity rooted from watching too much astroboy as a child.

Realistically, how long do you think it will be before robot waifus are advanced enough to be mistaken for human and affordable for the middle class?

20 years. They still need to solve battery and cost-scaling issues, but Japan has already made them.

remember that augmented reality maid-on-a-cube thing which would break down into tears? or the fuzzy toy dinosaur that went catatonic if you kept beating it?

robot waifus will come with a NERF bat and realistic corner-hiding and cowering as the killer app.

I don't understand the faith people place in bipedal robots. There is very little chance they'll ever achieve strong AI and human likeness.

VR is more possible.

>> No.2610438

robots are what we make them to be, and do what we tell them to do

so we tell them that they like being beat on and hotglued

it'd probably be seen as 'abuse' if you made a robot that really liked petting kittens, then gave it chainsaws for hands - but that's really a human ethical violation, the robot's just following a malicious command.

Not really. Nature is hard to simulate without running into the goddamn valley.
Bipedal robots has a retro flair. Just like jetpacks and flying cars. But I do believe a decent enough AI is possible. After all, most of the human interaction can be imitated given a good enough set of input mechanisms and response sets.

There's more future in AR. It's a basic extrapolation from the current technology and trends on gadgets. A few years we will look back on the 90's and early 21st cen as a foolish time, with so much precious time wasted on front of shiny monitors.

I can remember watching this program where some university department or another was doing research on brain functions of animals and mapping them with supercomputers in an effort to replicate it in some way or another. Until then we can rely on Bethesda's Radiant AI, lol.

Celshading can only do so much, and it's currently the best way we have to quickly create the animu look on the fly. Further developments are needed.
But you're onto something. People don't need a simulacra that is exactly like reality. One can admit some level of simplification of features and still be immersive enough.
I insist that it's more probable for a good AR system to crop up than a full VR.
