I think somebody told me at one point that Japanese couples are having less and less kids on average, so by a 100 years it's almost possible for Japan to be less crowded.

Add to that the growing women's movement that says "I won't marry unless he makes 100,000Y a year, and fuck children, I want to stay at home and do jack shit", it's likely that in a hundred years japan will have removed itself from the equation.
