You see them a lot in Redwall.

I'm pretty sure that's not a bonnet. Bonnets are those fan-looking things that shade the face.

Yes, and all the frills and bows and idealistic countryside folk got me to love Touhou enormously when I discovered it.

That's why I said earlier that if Brian Jacques wrote a story about Touhou, I would shit three bricks and die. Of course, the likelihood of that happening is as much as there suddenly being a bucket of fried chicken and a tall pitcher of cool soda suddenly popping into appearance next to everyone posting in this thread.

A mob cap is a type of bonnet. From wiki:

"A mob cap or mob-cap is a round, gathered or pleated cloth (usually linen) bonnet consisting of a caul to cover the hair, a frilled or ruffled brim, and (often) a ribbon band, worn by married women in the Georgian period, when it was called a "bonnet". Originally an informal style, the bonnet became a high-fashion item as part of the adoption of simple "country" clothing in the later 18th century. It was an indoor fashion, and was worn under a hat for outdoor wear."

Silly me, I forgot that 'bonnet' can also be used in that context. The first thing that popped into my head was a classic bonnet.
We've yet to see a Touhou with a Tam'oshanter yet, unless someone would like to present one.
So, yes, it is a bonnet, and classified as a mobcap.

Also, I believe that the heavens opened up and rained sunshine and joy the moment ZUN chose to draw a mobcap on the first Touhou.
As long as Mobcaps are canon I don't care, no matter what Anon says about anything else.

I caught on a long time ago, but I got into it during the exciting days of Martin The Warrior, Luke, and other grand tales. Mariel Of Redwall left a deep impression on me particularly. Then it got more and more formulaic.

I upgraded to the higher level and got addicted to A Song Of Ice And Fire next. Instead of marveling at Lord Brocktree's deeds, I was gasping in shock at Ser Gregor Clegane, on the edge of my seat with every page turn. It reminded me of the day I opened "Redwall".

>>2583043

Ah, yes. That made them deeply cathartic. Well, there's fairies enough to slaughter, and other things that usually die when Reimu goes berserk.
Hah, I would imagine her to be like a Badger Lord, falling into a red eyed frenzy and crushing her enemies under a hailstorm of blows.

>>2583050

The descriptions...I'd cut my leg off if it meant I'd get to read Jacques describe one of Reimu's feasts. It would be mouth-watering.

Ahhhh, nostalgia.

To continue quoting wiki:

"A beret (pronounced /ˈbɛreɪ/[1] or /bəˈreɪ/[2] in English, [be'rɛ] in French) is a soft round cap, usually of wool felt, with a flat crown, which is worn by both men and women and traditionally associated with France."

It doesn't look as stiff. Maybe it's like a cross between a sailor's cap and a beret?
