As you have probably noticed, fumos are extremely photogenic. They look good from nearly all front angles, and generally have great contrast and lighting balance in nearly all environments. I've also noticed that fumo photos are generally easy to compose because fumos are small and easy to move around.
Even though they are great photography objects, the basics of photography still apply. So use stuff like the rule of thirds, manual settings when taking photos (more control = better photos), shoot in RAW for better editing, plan your photography, etc.

The only reason I would consider it in this case is because there seems to be so little record of the Shanghai fumo even existing, and it doesn't seem likely that they'll make more so the chance of the price dropping is nebulous.

I wouldn't recommend spending more than new price for fumos that still get re-released by Gift. It's a bit hard to say which ones those are but gathering from last sale I would say series 17 and onward have a chance for a re-release. For any older fumos it's up to you what is worth it honestly.

I'd recommend making up for yourself whether a price is right for you or not. You know better than anyone else if something is worth it and what your financial situation is like after all. When it comes to impulse buying just take some time before ordering, like give it a couple of days. Also if possible look around for different listings so you can get a sense of the average price that it's going for in the aftermarket. This way you can decide for yourself what a reasonable price is, and when a listing shows up within your price range you can just buy it without a problem.
As an aside I don't think that Shanghai will ever see a re-release since it's not even by Gift and Pink company don't seem to be doing anything currently from what I can find.

Anyone know what the safest way to remove the glued parts on a fumo is? As much as I think my extra v2 Sanae is cute, her hair's gotta go at some point, but there's that one bit by her hair decoration that's attached with glue.

Any proxy 'could' work as long as it's office hours and they buy your order before it's sold out. However there's a reason why people recommend a forwarder over proxies. Though that being said there have been multiple anons that were successful in getting fumos that sold out quicker than Patchouli with White rabbit. Not sure about other proxies though.

I'm pretty sure most soft marisas have yellow eyes, but I only have one fumo so I don't really have an eye for spotting the differences yet.

I don't really have enough right now to buy an overpriced Marisa so I suppose I'll keep looking around for a cheaper one. I don't really want to end up with a bootleg if I can help it though.

I think the problem is, lots of people want to commission fumos, but few of them would want to pay the hundreds of dollars it would take to fairly compensate the artist for his time. It looks like a very labor intensive and logistically challening process, so either the fumosmith makes very little profit and works for love instead of money, or he sets the price high enough that he gets no customers.
