If you send quite some time fantasizing about them, you also imagine how your conversations would go. If one can do so in imaginary world, why not daydream about it irl?

On a serious note, if you ask around in some waifu threads you'll realize pretty much everyone does that. Even though it's not something discussed there, it seems like it just comes naturally. Not that long ago someone found out my online shrine and approached me because he believed he is in love with Miku and wanted to know if I can relate. After short conversation he admitted he does talk with her and do other things specific to waifu culture even though he never heard of it. I found that quite interesting.

Gatebox had limited tracks though, which was your example and it's perfectly possible simply exporting the tracks. Sure you won't be able to have Miku reading something for you or repeating what you said (to artificially increase the amount of sentences she can say), but with current tech the best you can do is choose from a list of possible answers and paraphrase stuff (if you want to make her a SIRI clone). And I doubt a TTS Miku would change that.

Up until now, perhaps. However, I'm sure you're aware of all the experimental AI chatbots appearing all over the internet, and with hardware getting better and better at accelerating it, it won't take long until you can do it on your desktop PC or a server in your garage. They are both fast enough for generating sentences at a time with a good computer, the problem the other anon is talking about is the input. TTS only needs text as input, while Vocaloid needs both the text and the sheet music which is harder to generate and has less data for training your AI and for Vocaloid it's also closed (I think). Plus you'd need some way to automatically import in Vocaloid, run it and export it since it's not made for automatic generation.

The fact that Ke-san is part of the band Penguin Research, and the fact that it's duet between Gumi and Rin (Internet Co. vs. Crypton) is pretty much a double death-sentence for both of these songs. Darn shame though, since these songs have lots of energy and I really like them I'd have loved to see them live (and have none of the singers replaced).
