ZUN + Touhou?

Now picturing EoSD as a VN with Sakuya as the protagonist. Remilia and Flandre as near-side routes, and Patchouli, Reimu and Marisa as far-side routes. Meiling dies as the token route-less character. Koakuma is mentioned off-hand, but will have her own route in a future expansion.

Sakuya, Youmu, Ran, Chen, Reisen, Komachi, and Momiji fighting for their masters over the holy grail. Sakuya's counterpart from the previous battle, Yumeko, appears towards the end. Chen isn't really supposed to be in the fight but that isn't revealed except in the last route where Rin appears.
Eirin is the protagonist.

Part of the charm behind Touhou is the light whimsical plot that follows a fairy tale logic. Laugh as we do about it, the setting is pleasant enough as it is without taking itself too seriously.

Sure, Nasu can laugh at itself but it tends to go for a heavier and more detailed plot with twists and turns all along and bitter sweet endings. Also hilariously written porn bringing images of sealife.

If the plot for Touhou was written by Nasu the hero would probably be Rinnosuke, assisted by one of his harem of heroines depending on the users choice. Rinnosuke would be the focus and the plot would start off fun and amusing introducing the setting before taking twists and dramatic turns coming about to sex then bitter sweet endings. Rinnosuke would be moralistic as hell, the heroines could be bitchy but each would ultimately warm up and see his way of thinking towards the end. Rinnosuke would constantly prove his worth in situations well beyond him with the assistance of his girl but ultimately focused on his heroism.

Basically standard VN stuff, but heavily detailed setting at least. My issue is that arguments aside part of the fun with Touhou is being able to draw your own conclusions because ZUN confuses his own shit from time to time and leaves things blank intentionally. It's why there are so many more doujins for it, you can interpret Touhou in so many different ways and still be considered pretty close.

Yes, it gives doujinshi writers and artists a huge amount of space to fill in the blanks. Nasu would shoot down all of the many theories that have sprung up from Touhou fanon...a bad thing or a good thing, depending on where you stand.
