Help a brother out Japanese enthusiasts.

I have some original ivory artistic sculptures of I believe to be a samurai, a monk, and some kind of oni/monk?. Anyways, you guys will be a huge help to me figuing these out.

These are 60+ year old pieces, I imagine possibly much older, and they could even be Chinese, but I think they're Japanese. Hopefully I'm not wrong!

Here's the first one, I'll include the signature next, and that's what I need help understanding the most!

These statues are toirehimegami-sama it is the guardian of those at rest. They keep away famous Japanese demon the toire no omyoji.

Very rare I suggest contacting a Japanese museum.

I don't know why that's there, I was looking that up.

here's the signature to this piece!

This one says “the pleasure of internal release.”

Maybe a reference to the zen Buddhist cycle of reincarnation.

One thing I would do would be to check out local and international laws regarding ivory and the ivory trade. A friend of mine took a family heirloom to a museum after calling and inquiring about it (a mallet made out of ivory) and it was promptly seized and he did not get it back due a patchwork of laws regarding ivory (and this thing had been in his family since the 1800s).

In this case, I believe the release to be in a passive way, as in "[something] is being release inside the self".
As such, it seems closer to the taoist idea of attaining immortality through training.
