We planned it out, my one friend and his little brother went in alone while the rest of us waited outside. She wouldn't make this obvious, though--she would act ditzy enough that people would be shocked at the end of the semester to see her relatively high grades (especially given her laziness). She really does want someone else intelligent to be with, but she doesn't want to pierce her public veil.

Marisa would be the absurdly outgoing and eager student who managed somehow to do all her work studiously while participating in tons of school activities. As if materializing out of thin air, she was in front of me, and began strolling around me in slow, meticulous paces. She sidled up to me, and stood on the tips of her toes so her mouth could reach my ear. "A vampire's flight?"
My back stiffened, and I stood upright. I tried to block this out of my mind, imagine I was somewhere else. That such a tiny person could reduce me to a quaking pile of protoplasm... I have never felt so helpless.
I can't imagine how twisted my face must have looked as I tried to force a dismissive smile. "A... heh heh... a vampire? I don't believe in things..." I said something catching in my throat, and managed to choke out... "like that!"
"Oh. Okay then." She said flatly, almost seeming disappointed. "Hmph.... Whatever." and she walked back to the desk where she had been checking books back in after the winter semester.
In fact, it was hard for me to think about that night. It was all a confusing mess of broken glass, the sickening sound of teeth plunging into flesh... blood. Lots of blood.

Tewi shrugged, which made her coat slip from her shoulders. She took it off to shake away imagined dust, then pulled the coat onto her light frame until the tightness was to her satisfaction. Only then did she answer; although she had had time to gather her thoughts, her words were spoken with an offhand manner.

"I don't know... school isn't that interesting to me anymore, I guess."

Once again, she took her time before answering. After a short while spent staring and kicking at the dirt, Tewi responded. She didn't look up from the patch of earth that until now had been relatively unmarred.

"NOOOO!!! My mech-hands!" I saw a tear forming in the corner of her eye. She pulled the straps over her shoulders, and allowed the broken device to fall to the ground with a clang. She held her hands out in front of her, and whispered, "Water sign - Kappa's Porocora!" Torrents of blue-white light emerged from all around her, rolling around like waves in the ocean, stretched out and enveloped the gloating Cirno. She didn't even have a chance to see what hit her.

"YOU CAN'T DEFEAT ME THIS IS JUST THE BEGINNING JUST YOU WAIT!" Cirno screamed, as she was carried away. With their leader beaten, the other girls just ran.

"Why didn't you just do that at first, Nitori?"
"I wanted to test out my Mech Hands."
"Well, you're a better fighter than an engineer. I'll tell you that."
She just glared at me, with that same, adorable-angry face.
