I don't think h-audio work is something they "move on" from, those girls have their own recording set-ups at home and do other shit like niconico premium streams or ci-en so they likely make more money than professional eroga VAs.

We don't even have denpa anymore. Or horror. Or anything other than nukige and moege. Moonstone looked like they were going into that direction, but have only made industry standard shit for 3 years now.

Meanwhile I'm reading Bifronte from 08 and it's 99% boring shit and 1% denpa/horror. So it's not like everything was better back then. I hope it changes soon. Chapter 1 was so fucking boring, and chapter 2 picks up right there as well.

If you think Mori Dreamer is overall boring, you will not like most good horror.
Tokihate is less about episodic things than Mori Dreamers, but you won't get around the calmer times. Good horror finds a good balance between horror and not horror, otherwise the horror becomes the norm and gets boring. The fun thing is when you start seeing weird things in "normal" situations, because you stop trusting anything and spirals out of control.
That said, if you really only didn't like the episodic stories where the main plot very obviously stops, I recommend to just keep on going and give Tokihate a try. I actually stopped Mori Dreamers once as well, but was basically 10 minutes before the story was continued. And I'm glad I continued. The main story is great, and gets nicely continued in the main girl's route. The other routes are crap and completely irrelevant though. (and barely have horror elements)

On another note, Bifronte seems to start now. When Nietzsche appears, you know shit gets real.

Sorry but no, mori dreamers is not, by any stretch of the imagination, even remotely close to being good horror.
Mostly bland as shit characters, a completely horrible and boring plot, retarded action scenes that not only add nothing but actually detract from its atmosphere because nothing like chuuni shonenshit to make a good horror game.
I finished the main route, and I was disappointed beyond belief and the only good part of the game was up to Madoka's death and that was the very beginning of the game, which actually bothers to build some attempt at tension.
Otherwise it was just a crappy horror that's never scary or tense with shitty and poorly executed action elements. The main plot is terrible too so it doesn't help either, since the twist about the villain is super lazily done too.
I can't believe there's a person who would ever call mori dreamers good horror or that

The point is, they can't. I was worried about that as well, but the writer was very aware of what you can do and what you can't, setting up rules never to be broken. For starters, none of the "action" is in the real world, and the real world is where the horror takes place in the first place. Perhaps not entirely correct, but it mostly fits, especially if we are only talking about the main cast and what they can do.
Think of it like this: Horror + plot = real world. No super powers by the main characters.
Action: Other world specifically there to "deal" with things. However you can't just randomly do this, as requirements do exist which you need to fulfill by doing things in the real world and risks aren't zero either.

I'm really having no idea what you are talking about. You are just throwing out "boring" and "retarded", which isn't exactly helping. If you didn't like the way the villain was written, I have no idea what to say either. Read between lines more? Pay attention more? There's a lot of good stuff to be found, and the strength of the game is precisely how well the characters are done, ESPECIALLY the villain. Calling the "twist" lame is also not really helping with anything. I'm not sure calling it a twist is correct either. It has builtup and you SHOULD have a more and more rising suspicion.
The main heroines are kinda boring, perhaps that's a weakness for some people. But it doesn't hurt the rest.

Honestly, it's not strange to see people disliking the game because of pacing and other things, but I also feel like some people are just too used to the actually shitty VNs to appreciate something that doesn't put every single thing on a silver plate. I know Newrin had this reaction by some people as well, simply because it doesn't repeat everything 3 times or explains things in ways even the dumbest idiot gets it.

Funny you should mention that because indie rock was pretty popular in Japan only a few years ago. I know it sounds like a contradiction, but a lot of bands with the indie rock sound (cinema staff, 9mm parabellum bullet, Cö shu Nie, etc.) were pretty commercially successful and on major labels. The scene seems to have tapered down a bit these days though. The absolute artistic peak for Japanese rock though was the 80s prog scene which was god-tier.

In the new Seishun Fragile h-scene trial Kotorii Yuuka's character is the only that doesn't use any dirty words and instead generic shit like "あそこ", as expected.

Working my way through sorceress alive, done Yuzuriha, Mia and Azuria routes.
Azuria was so far the only decent one, and it was pretty decent too, Yuzuriha had a shitton of drama and Mia couldn't stop getting cucked, but Azuria actually had a good mix of comedy and conflict with some romance, which compared to the other two was actually pretty good.
Only Akina left of these first routes, hopefully it reaches consistently best girl Yuumi's match.

Either you have different writers so the quality varies greatly, or in romance you have the author pouring most of his effort on the "main girl" who is always the girl he likes the most and one or two girls get the shaft or you read something with plot and the true end just has the most amount of stuff in it.
Even consistently bad is hard because there's always worse.

That was the good part though. Mia couldn't carry the scenes by herself IMO.
Also a fantastic scene/line at the end, pic related.
Yuzuriha route was great for the Yuumi scenes

After 3 reinstalls and one 100% savedata I finally managed to clear the part where chocolat crashed on me and finished Kanako's routes.

Currently thinking if it would have been better if I had read it before wa2. I enjoyed it though unlike wa2 kanako was thoroughly unlikeable because of her route's heavy reliance on flashbacks and deus ex machina. I like chiroru though.

One thing I didn't like in either is Maruto's favoritism to one character.

Was going to read ripple or parfait next but I think I'll take a break from maruto for a while.

Saihate no Ima isn't that incomplete. The main plot and the heroine plots are all complete by the end. It's mainly missing stuff from the middle-late part of the game like side character stories and development. Everyone always says it's incomplete but it's more like a rush job and an extremely competent one at that.
I'd go with cross channel first though then ima but they're both very good. Jintai is good too but Rewrite isn't that great, read that last if you feel like it.

There's no flowchart even in the ps port and the game seems to expect you to play through it a ridiculous number of times.
The humour is painful and the stories just generally dull. In Otogirisou it's just the protagonist and his girlfriend wandering around a mansion whereas Kamaitachi no Yoru has a large cast of characters trapped in a secluded location with a murderer (a formula hard to fuck up).
There's some genuine tension and intrigue unlike Otogirisou which is an embarrassment of a commercial game by today's standards.

Of course even in dramatic moments you have to have the gaijin character randomly speak their native language (terribly) even though they're fluent in Japanese. It makes them come off as a joke character, but it's played off as completely straight in this game. The rest of the writing in this game is fine when it's revolving around the main 3 but this character is just completely unlikable.

It was like reading princess witches except that one actually stuck inside its own genre conventions even for the darker parts and had foreshadowing and such, instead of literally nothing.
It was also fairly lacking in production values since by the end of the day it barely had normal CGs, which for something focusing on sports and later war makes for a really plain presentation.

Something I've noticed happening with a few things I've reviewed/talked about liking lately is people getting confused at the idea of a work having strengths and flaws. A work can do some things extremely well while doing other things pretty poorly, reaching peaks only after falling down valleys. How this is handled varies on the person. Some will obsess with the valleys and ignore the peaks, some will wish that the work was a more consistent flat line instead, and so on. But I will look at the peaks and care more about the peaks than anything. Because I ultimately care about the peaks and highs of something more than anything. I don't want to read a flat line t hat has no weaknesses but no impressive strengths. I don't care if a work has pits of shit all over it. I just care about it doing something really, really well in perhaps a special way that sets it apart from other things.

I'm playing Galaxy Angel 2 games, currently still on the first one (Zettai Ryouiki no Tobira). I find it difficult to keep my motivation up, since having played all 3 GA1 games keeps me comparing everything in GA2 to GA1.
I've finished Apricot's and Kahlua's route. I think I'll do Nanonano's route then move on to Mugen Kairo no Kagi. Hopefully the first game's slow because of world building, and the second game picks up the pace.

Downloaded 花咲ワークスプリング！ Came with "cracker" and an old version of alpharomdie. Use cracker and game asks for disk. Use alpharomdie shortcut (yes I know how to use the program) and it instantly crashes. Mount ISO and game runs, but I want to get rid of the image.

Check my folder of 雪の夜、俺は妹を裸にする。and find NoRegionLoader and SiglusEnginePatcher. Remember that neither worked on 雪の夜、俺は妹を裸にする。and that NRL always requires to select the game exe, which is annoying.
NRL works this time. Try SiglusEnginePatcher and also works without ISO.
Try running 雪の夜、俺は妹を裸にする。 with either cracker and it crashes. Remember that I had to mount the ISO each time. Also remember that Lowすぺっく would crash when using a save from an old version on a newer release.

If it works with the disc mounted but you don't want to waste 2x the HDD space, keep it mounted and make symlinks to the data files (enclosed in double quotes if there are spaces in the path). That's what I'm doing with my (naturally space-limited) RAM disk which I torrent the games to.

No, as I only read one VN at a time. Alcohol Portable (which is my mounting tool of choice) removes the drive when you unmount the disc, and when you mount another disc, it re-creates the drive with the same drive letter assigned to it (A: in my case), so no symlinks break and you don't have to fix them or remember which drive letter was assigned to which game.

I love the 80s and 90s artstyle and from a technical POV I think it's a lot better than post-00's art. But I wouldn't say 80's girls are as cute as girls with modern art.
